Yes, the things our wives do for us. My wife's wedding gift to me was a 2005 WRX STi.

I need some advise. I bought a used 2010 Wrangler Sahara Unlimited (love it!), but recently when on a logging road (only my third time out, just over 20,000km on the vehicle), I got a hot oil warning. I have taken it in for a regular oil change and was told the differential oil needs changing too. The dealership quoted me $380-$420, depending on the oil. I find this extremely expensive and wonder if they are raking me over the coals. Any advise? Very much appreciated.

I'd imagine it would be easy to do and I'm sure you could find a friend who knows how to give you a bit of guidance. I have friends who change their own engine oil and shop the car for everything else, so it shouldn't be a huge task for the engine or diff oil. Probably even a youtube video on it.

Some Jeep dealers are okay, some are not. The videos on YouTube can be helpful, but they usually assume you've got a garage full of tools and a lot of expertise. Plus, the posters edit out their screw-ups and disasters.

I suggest you look for a Jeep club in your area, check into their website and ask for recommendations on a local 4x4 shop with a good reputation.

I had heard about the Jeep wave before I bought mine 2 weeks ago, and as soon as I picked it up, I started waving to other Jeep owners, but nobody waved back at me. After about 3 days of this, I had almost given up hope, but then it happened... I was driving home from dinner with my wife, and I could see another Jeep coming my way. Figuring the wave was a lost cause in my area, I expected nothing. But then the other driver stuck out his arm and gave me a cool little wave of acknowledgement, and I got so excited I started waving back like an idiot! It was fantastic! The wave lives!!! I think from now on though, I'm going to adopt his cool version of the wave rather than the goofy wave that I did

We recently got the top off of the jeep and the waves from fellow jeepers have increased. Lots of waves yesterday.

I learned the wave riding a Harley as 99% of HD riders wave each other when passing by.

This weekend while in my new JK with top down I waved to another Wrangler with top down but got no reply, so I figured it wasn't same as with HD. NIce to hear that some of you are getting returns so I will try again.

I passed a silver JK on rosedale cemetary road the other morning. Didn't wave until it passed because I was hungover and trying unsuccessfully to tell Pandora that Christian instrumental music does not belong on a station for Coheed and Cambria.

I was like, damn I hope that's not Con Artist or else he's going to hate all jeep owners.

I'd say 80% of riders wave regardless of what they're on. In my experience more sport bikers wave at me when I'm on the HD then HD riders do.

It also depends where you're at. I was in Arlington, VA which is about 5 minutes from DC yesterday and pretty much no jeep owners waved to me. Not even the metal orange Jeep with color matched hardtop and 24" chrome wheels. Ones I made it about 50 miles outside of DC back towards WV, most every jeep owner waved. I get more waves once I'm outside the city. I'm guessing it could be because the ratio of people that own a jeep strictly for car that can get them around vs. those that own a jeep and are an automotive enthusiast that would never call it a car (unless they hate kittens like myself) is weighted to car people more than jeep people. They probably get tired of not being waved back at.

Do it right where you are at with a passenger in your jeep and maybe you could get airborne!

Don't tell anyone, but I've been known to wave to HD's especially during Rolling Thunder! Two years ago I got a long line of waves when a group passed me by. Stirred my heart!

You know, we have a 09' JKU and just got back from MOAB, there, we got all of 1 wave from about the 200 JEEPs pass us. Then we got back to our hometown in NM, the hit-miss ratio went WAY up. Either the residents there just got bored or no one taught them the JEEP thing.

WF doesn't need ten of them at one time, like we had in the past.

I bought my jeep from a buddy of mine, the couple of times I rode in it with him we never passed any jeeps. Had no idea about the wave. But the first day I drove it other jeep owners were waving, always waved back, but wasn't sure if people just confused me for him or if it was a jeep thing. Till I told my buddy this and he laughed at me and told me to read the windshield decal again. "It's a Jeep Thing... You Wouldn't Understand!!!" Been waving ever since, like some of you I only get about half the waves back though. Won't stop me from trying.

Go figure, I guess when every other vehicle on the road is a Jeep, folks just get tired of waving!

Good grief, more butt hurt jeepers who noone waves to. Please pull over & buy a lollypop!
