I had my 2012 wrangler for a few weeks now, and have yet to be waved at by a female - even though I wave first.
I'll carry on the tradition regardless but it is hard to get a wave here in Flower Mound Texas!

Women don't wave. I don't know what the deal is. Maybe they just don't wave at me, since I'm another female. No one told me about the wave right away, but i noticed as i was driving to work after i bought it that Guys were waving to me. I waved back and put 2 and 2 together. Then later that day someone said something. Mayne people aren't bright enough to figure it out. I'm getting waved at less in general though. I'm so tired of it that I'm thinking about not waving at all anymore.

I am shocked to hear about the discrimination within Jeep model ranks...and i think ive been a victim of it now that im aware of it. I mean, are you serious? It's 2012, you need a new car, you want a jeep. Are you supposed to buy a 2000 or even older jeep with a million miles on it and all that comes with it, just to be excepted into the "club"? Puh-leeze!

Not worried about being "accepted" into any "club." I bought my Jeep for myself and not anyone else but myself. Screw "the club."

If people are buying vehicles just to be accepted into a "club," they have far bigger problems than not being accepted into a club.

Jeep model ranking is crap as far as I am concerned. I wave at everybody no matter the year or amount of mods. Don't care or feel feel bad if they don't return it, just want to keep this nice tradition alive.

I agree, I wave at all fellow Jeeps because I like being a part of the tradition itself.

Its a jeep thing. I have noticed though, people who tend to be wealthier than others that own new jk's (not all of them) like to blow you off not only by not waving but I guess since I have a YJ I suppose that whole childish (im better than you) thing comes to the table, which is sad because I enjoy the jeep wave and you don't see other vehicles doing any type of wave, AND personally i think a built up YJ looks tough as hell. Just saying. Oh and I am an Infantry Rifleman in the good ole USMC that has survived a combat deployment this past year in the 'Ghan, so for all of you who don't wave and have a (im better than you mentality)

I've had every hot girl in a jeep that I wave at wave back except for one and that's probably because I was hanging out the side yelling, "Hey girl, how you doin'?"

If I saw that, I'd probably laugh too hard to wave!

If someone did that to me, I'd probably be laughing too hard to wave! I know the kids would be

I'm a lady and always wave. The only people who don't wave back are the people who live in the rich town where I work.

If they're newbies, they may not realize it. I didn't for about 2 months after driving around. Sometimes I'm a bit slow on the uptake...

I'm a huge fan of the wave. I feel a sense of brother/sister-hood that only fellow Jeepers understand!

First post from a new Jeeper here...interesting thread on "the wave." I have to confess I've never heard of it, although I've diligently watched and waved at every fellow Jeep driver I see.

Well, to be honest, I waved at most Jeep drivers while I was still in the "wanting one" stage, so make of that what you will...

never really noticed who waves and who doesn't. typically it's the mall crawlers who don't wave. not sure they even look for other jeeps

I didn't know about waving until coming to the forums, here.
I've had one person wave and I waved back but not until he was past.

Sometimes it takes a moment to register someone is waving ..
and then it's like "Duh! wave!"

I have noticed that when the women DO wave, they wave with a heck of a lot more energy than the guys typically throw out. Its awesome

Living in Northern NJ I have found that most jeepers wave. I did notice that most that do not are women and guys driving very old Jeeps. I don't know why. I just give my wave to all. If you see it great if you wave its much better if you don't I don't care.

Its the opposite for me, the rich yuppies ALWAYS wave...i think it makes them feel in touch with the commoners

Ladies always wave too, even the mall krawlers wave, i think it makes them feel like real jeepers.

the ones who NEVER wave are the 40-60 year old guys drivin around in lifted cjs with 37" mud tires and summer teeth. they just glare at me when i wave...kinda creepy.
