I always wave. I find most people here in the north of Lowell (MA), south of Nashua (NH) area wave back. More so from the lady jeepers who usually wave. My wife and I will laugh and jokingly make a comment on those people that do not wave back. To each their own.

Good thing a wave isn't the same as your v-card...
idk some wave some don't. I haven't found much of a trend really. I see it as the same thing as when someone sneezes I automatically say bless you. Same concept with the

Being a new jeeper I sometimes forget to wave. If someone waved to me and I didn't wave back. Don't be offended

I waved today to a passing jeep!

But then a pickup flashed its lights and waved and that confused me.

I was busy looking ahead for a cop hiding instead of waving back.

People around Martinsburg, WV must be wave-happy today. I've gotten waves from almost every Jeep today, most of them being JKs. I did pass one and wave and the wave was not returned. Oh well.

...On a brighter note, I was at the car wash today and as I was pulling out of the "wash garage," there was another silver JKU (Sport) on its way out. All of a sudden the driver really perked up and she started waving frantically. If she'd had the window down and leaned over any further, she just may have fallen out onto her head! We saw each other at just about the same time, so I'm sure the guy drying the cars was looking back and forth at the both of us like we were crazy.

Lunacy...It's a Jeep Thing.

I haven't had a girl wave or wave back to me and I'd say about 90% of the jk's don't wave either where I live. But it won't stop me from waving cause when they actually wave back it puts a smile on my face.

People in soft tops seem to wave more than hardtops.
I haven't had anyone in a 4door hardtop wave or acknowledge a wave, yet.

I am 19 years old and just got my self a 2012 wrangler manual. The best so far was I waved a Jk rubicon on 35's and stalled the jeep when i was wavin at him lol ( first day driving a manual). He honked, waved and laughed when he drove by.

Being from New England and living down in Florida I have found the "wave" thing more reciprocated up north than down south, just like the "letting someone go first" when you both arrive at the stop signs at the same time, seems more people up north give a wave of thanks than down south...idk maybe just me I guess...

I am a Jeep-loving "soccer mom" who will switch lanes, speed up, or slow down on the highway just to be able to wave most emphatically across 4 lanes of traffic to any and every Jeeper I see regardless of year/model. I guess I feel the need to over-compensate for the other female 2012 JKU owners that do not acknowledge the jeep wave. We are not all lame!

Oh, yes, and I wave on the trails, too!

Why'd you buy a wrangler manual? Just buy a wrangler and they'll throw one in for free.

I've found MOST people WILL wave IF they see me. The ones who don't wave back are usually either not looking or just not paying attention. I'm guilty of being waved to at inopportune times (like in the middle of making a right turn on to a highway and a Jeep coming in the opposite direction) and I miss waves. That doesn't make me a dick, it makes me someone who's paying attention to traffic, steering with one hand, and shifting with the other.

Yesterday I was at work and had just exited my Jeep with a bunch of shit in my arms. This lady in a Jeep drove by and waved. I just nodded my head to her to acknowledge her. Not much ya can do when you have piles of boxes you're trying to balance...

I'm starting to get pretty discouraged here. Maybe it's just a Nebraska thing but I've owned my Jeep a month now and out of all the Wranglers I've waved at, exactly four have waved back. Then the other day I was stopped at an intersection and a guy beat me to the wave. I was so taken aback I forgot to turn.

I grew up on a ranch. So living in the country it was normal. Everyone knew everyone and you waved. Living in bigger cities you don't get this. One I got my wrangler I started getting waved at and the first thought was "I don't know you" but waved back and never thought about it. Well every morning I'd get waved at by this pretty blond. One morning I was running late and getting gas and she pulled in. She started talking to me and she was telling the first time I didn't wave it made her mad but it was ok because I started waving after she honked. I told her I just thought she was flirting and I saw no reason flirting back since I'd probably never meet her. And at that point she began informing me she wasn't flirting and that jeep owners have a code and if you don't wave then your basically an A-Hole. Lol. So long story short I wasn't getting hit on and learned there was a jeep wave

Then later that day someone said something. Mayne people aren't bright enough to figure it out. I'm getting waved at less in general though. I'm so tired of it that I'm thinking about not waving at all anymore.

I am shocked to hear about the discrimination within Jeep model ranks...and i think ive been a victim of it now that im aware of it. I mean, are you serious? It's 2012, you need a new car, you want a jeep. Are you supposed to buy a 2000 or even older jeep with a million miles on it and all that comes with it, just to be excepted into the "club"? Puh-leeze!
I have a 2012 and have noticed a little discrimination, not a lot but a little since I was made aware of the wave. For the most part I get waved at but occasionally I'll see an older jeep and they won't wave unless I wave first. I don't know if they assume that because I have a newer jeep that I won't wave or what. Jk's seem to be hit or miss on the wave.

Wait didn't I read some place that waving at hummers or acknowledging they exist except to embarrass them by pulling them out is an immediate revocation of your Jeep card? Lol. Just kidding.

More hits than misses on the JKs for me. Can't say the same about the previous generations.

How do you know from driving by a jeep that it doesn't get dirty? Some people like to wash their Jeeps as much as they like to play in them. Stick Jeeps can play, so mods aren't the key.

What are you judging them by that proves it?

I'll be driving, smiling inwardly at the fun-lover driving the Jeep that passes me; enjoying the heritage we share; leaving the waves for the cycle crowd.

Seriously? That's not cool. I wash my jeep every Wednesday or Friday wether it needs it or not and black wax it every month. I see bird crap on it, it gets washed right then. Sorry to say but jeep doesn't have the best clear coat :/ . Now mud stays until the next washing unless I have to go to a meeting or conference and that's the only time I use it for work. Other than that, it's my weekend toy, the explorer gets all the miles. I guess if my jeep is clean then not to expect waves? That's a little pretentious.
