I was driving in my work vehicle this morning, (non jeep).. I was behind a jk. We passed 4 other jeeps. (3 jk's and a yj).. the JK drivers waved to each other, the YJ driver waved, JK in front of me didn't wave back..

You're being overly picky like you're trying to find excuses to not wave to JKs.
^ This.

This whole thing from who waves first (the "heirarchy" of mods vs. less mods...), which style, what kind of hand gesture is an appropriate wave, etc. makes me not wanna wave to anybody. The whole debate over a wave is dumb. Within SEVEN years of owning my 2005 STi and spending SEVEN years on NUMEROUS Subaru forums, I'd NEVER seen a wave debated. Plain and simple, we all just flashed the highs at each other as we passed or through up a "peace" sign or something. There was none of this "secret wave" bullshit.

Let's try thinking about this for a moment...

- You just said you passed four other Jeeps. I'll assume they were one behind the other, because that's the impression I'm getting from your statement. IF this is the case, why would it be necessary to throw up FOUR different waves if the group is together?

- Now, let's say all the Jeeps were met on separate occasions. Contrary to what you (and/or anyone else may think...), some of us don't drive around paying attention to the opposite side of the highway as there are more than plenty of distractions on our own side, ranging from soccermom sending texts or dialing phone numbers, to the idiot waving all over his lane, to the idiot weaving in and out of traffic, etc. So, isn't it possible the driver in front of you simply didn't see the driver of the YJ?

Now, I'm not going to defend this person because he/she could've just been a douche with a chip on his/her shoulder towards anyone who wasn't driving a JK, because us JK owners have run into douche owners of previous generations on more than several occasions; more than I care to count, for that matter.

They weren't in a row.. right behind each other.. I was behind the JK for about 15 miles. The jeeps were fairly spaced out.

So it is possible the driver simply just wasn't paying attention...

Ok so let me get this straight. If a Tj leaves his house at 8:30 in the morning and travels west for 1hr. at 50mph and a Jk leaves their house at 8:35 and heads east at 65 mph and one is tuning the radio while the other is checking the rearview mirror. then it may be possible that they didn't see each other? I'm trying to be funny because I find the whole thing hilarious

I wave to people. If they don't wave back I pull over immediately and bawl my eyes out since they hurt me soul.

You're finding it to be hilarious because it's supposed to be...

The real reason the JK owner did NOT wave is for the same reason a king doesn't wave to a pauper; they're just simply inferior...

OK, we'll throw the shocker first and if the other Jeeper throws the shocker then we can wave. Make sure you slow down to 5mph to be able to confirm the JWSS. Jeep Wacing Secret Society.

Wow. Quadratec or somebody is missing a bet here for a whole new mod- a waver! It would be a hand that mounts off the corner of the driver side windshield and can be raised and lowered when other Jeeps pass by. It could even be computerized to recognize oncoming Jeeps and work automatically and flip the bird to any non-reciprocating Jeeps.

Oops. Gotta go. It's dinner time here at Happy Acres and I don't want detention again.

I am new to owning a Jeep (here goes the sappy part.... My heart has owned a Jeep for a long a@# time) and new to this forum. I LOVE the wave!!! I had no idea about the wave until I experienced it. I quickly realized "Hey, other Jeeps are waving to me". My husband thought I was nuts. My friends thought I was exaggerating. My drive to work was so much fun (my Jeep was fun and everyone was waving). 4 doors, 2 doors, all years, all wranglers. I had to google search this phenomenom. I asked myself "was this happening with all Jeepers?" I found out that it wasn't just me and that this was true bonding. I can spot a Wrangler comming a mile away (okay, now I am exaggerating with the mile away) and WAVES!!!! The camaraderie between other Jeeps is AWESOME!!!
P.S. I like the mod thing for the wave because my arm is getting a lot of exercise and sometimes I need to hold the wheel and take a sip of soda.

You got to as in you have to but with my bad WV public grammar thrown in. I'm here. Mainly lounging around in the He Man Club thread.

Just did the lift last weekend and it's a good bit of difference. Took me and a buddy about 8 hours with a dinner break, a trip to get brake fluid, and some slacking off. His dad was on hand to do the welding. Wait, welding on a 2012 with less than 6K miles?

Less than 6,000 miles? Do ya drive it or just look at it?

Can't wait to see it, man!

Which lift did you go with and what did you need to weld?

There's a rear track bar relocation bracket that you bolt on, but it says in the instructions to not attempt to do any off roading without welding it on.

Rock Krawler 2.5" Flex

I have the bike for the major miles.

I'm new to Jeeps. I bought my '95 YJ from a friend, in December, for my 60th b'day. Everyday that I have driven the YJ other Jeeper have waved...so I wave back. This is not strange to me, as I have owned my Miata since '89 and my PT Cruise since 2000 and have always waved back to each of those owners. It's kind of unique to belong to such a close knit group of "strangers" that acknowledges each other for having good taste in personal transportation. YEAH!!!!!!!!!

I wave at every wrangler I pass. When I have my doors off I wave with my left hand and foot out the door.. I do notice the older the jeep the better the response from the wave. I feel those who dont wave are just missing out on the full jeep experience and generally oblivious to their surroundings. SAD ordeal and such a waste..

I would love to have a newer jeep than my 91 YJ. But my wife would kill me the first time I brought a JK home covered in mud inside and out and some rock/tree rash all down one side or something. She doesnt get the fact that is why I have a jeep. To go jeeping. If I did get a new JK I would do just like I did with both my YJ's. Fill it up with gas, Throw my recovery gear in and head for the woods and then the dunes...lol

My buddy at work has a JK 4 door. I dont think its ever been off a gravel road. He told the salesman that he liked to hunt and fish and wanted something that did those things better than a civic. So the salesman sold him the wrangler. It is really nice. I back my slightly lifted yet sagging dinged up YJ in next to it at work and ask him "when are we gonna go wheeling?" He just says "I dont want mine to look like yours and I dont have another rig to drive if I break it". He wont even take it to the dunes. He loves his jeep but he isnt a jeeper... IMO.

I have also been out on runs with people that really wheel their newer jeeps.
