I was passing a guy in a red jeep like mine but his was a Jk, and gave him peace out real quick. I didn't even think I saw him until he was pretty much full arm waving at me back. Made my day. Lol. And I'm a girl to!!

Haha I took my Black Forest JK for a wash a couple months ago. The local place I go to uses pink scrub wash for their brushes and I had covered the jeep pretty well...two little girls went walking by, saw the jeep and yelled..."dad, dad look its a pink jeep! can we take a picture!?!" Couldn't stop laughing the whole time!

As far as the wave, I find I get more of a response out of JK'ers than I do previous models...don't know if they don't want to wave, don't see me, or don't care. But if you're in the Peoria, IL area and drive a Jeep...get your wave on no matter what model!!

It used to be the same way with the corvette. You always waved, my dad taught me that very early on. Nowadays, hardly ever see the wave from fellow vettes. I think it is a combination of youth, production numbers, and of course culture. It used to be that you left your front door unlocked and knew all of your neighbors....now I have no clue who lives across the street and have a sophistimicated alarmy thing.

When the jeep comes in I'll try my best to remember the wave, but please forgive a newb if you see me out there...

We just picked up our 2013 Rubicon in Spokane WA. Before the day was over we had several other Jeepers wave to us. Dove it home to Utah last weekend. We have seen lots of other Wranglers on the road here at home. None of them have waved back when we wave to them. Maybe some day it will catch on here.

Gawd everyones driving a jeep here. WTF. every other cars a jeep. My arm is sore from all the waving.

Even the soccer moms with phones up to their ears with 10 kids in the patriot smile and wave when it started raining and i had my doors off, top down, running the windshield wipers and threw my whole arm out the ....uhm...hole....at them.

I just got my first Jeep a few days a go. After having a Corvette and a Harley I wave at other Jeeps. It was a custom I felt would be the same with the Jeep owners. So far no one has waved back. Am I doing it wrong? What's up?

I find the ones that wave are the same ones you see on the trail. Keep the wave going, see you on the trails.

While the jeeps in the shop I find myself still waving at jeeps from my VW CC...LOL. They look at me funny, but I'm still pumped. Most TJs wave back at me a rare chief or Comanche gives me a wave, JKs... Not so much, they don't ever seem to be looking at the road. can't wait for the real wave in the summer. Anyone in Mass. On the north shore...look for the STX sticker on the back, you'll see it parked somewhere at a beach between Gloucester and Wells, ME. , or somewhere near the golden road

I got my JK, Lego is her name, almost two mths ago. I knew nothing of the jeep wave. Immediately, I got a wave....me: deer in headlights, um do I know them? Second wave...oh, this is like the motorcycle wave...figured out seconds too late. Wk 1, 4" lift w/ 37" tires, hit the mud...waves kept comin now returned. Wk 3, rear bumper, front bumper, winch and 4kc lights....waves dissipate from stock JK's. 7 wks later...most wave, the ones that don't are women in JK's, older men in anything, and I've been shafted by a few CJ's. But for the most part, the jeep wave is alive and well in GA. I'm very curious what will happen when I find my 9 yr olds jeep. Yes I said 9. I shared my addiction He already has plans. He loves the old willys, so I'm hunting for one now to tow hm and begin working on it w/ him now. It should be ready in 7 yrs and he will know every nook and cranny. He will have restored and built it himself. I'm just curious how it will go as my JK hauls it home, lol. Will folks still wave?

To All new Jeepers and us old ones alike, somebody once said to me " a Jeep is a Jeep, they are all the same" now we all know that is not true, but in the sense that a Jeep is a Jeep, I'd like to welcome my oldest son Scott to teh wonderful world of Jeeps, he bought his first vehicle last night since he passed his drivers test last week, it is a 1986 Jeep Comanche, now some will say why such an old truck? well in my litle world there are various things you just do, when looking for a dog the puppy that bites and draws blood is the one you take home and the same goes for a car, we were looking at this Jeep and my son stuck his hand under the hood in the engine and cut his finger, therefore it "bit" him so he followed the family ways and bought it for $350, now all we have to do is get it running, body's GREAT, engine not so great.

I was told about the wave when i was looking for my first Jeep and I love waving to all the wranglers i see out on the road. Around where I live it seems to be more of a Wrangler thing than a Jeep thing though even getting a wave from fellow wranglers is 50/50. I'm still new to this so some clarification would be appreciated. Are you supposed to wave across the highway divider, how about when a Jeep pulls up next to you either at a stop or while driving? Can passengers wave too or just the driver? Thanks guys and gals

For me i always give a wave, if it's something I really like, I'll give a flash. I worked hard for my jeep, I know others have as well. It makes me feel good to get a wave, I feel part of something, few understand. Just my 2cents.

I always wave! And if you drive a nice Jeep, be prepared for me to walk up and start talking to you about it. I will talk to you like your family to me, the Jeep family!

As a Jeep owner, it's fun to be part of a kind of underground club. It's the most unique mass production vehicle in the world, IMHO.

People buy them for different reasons, of course. But what's the harm in a little wave, two fingers off the wheel or a head nod among the true believers?

People who understand the wave enjoy it. The people who don't get it are missing out on a fun part of the Jeep ownership experience.

Returning the wave is no different than saying 'good morning' when somebody else says it to you. Whether that person's a stranger or not doesn't matter, it's only good manners and common courtesy.

But if they don't get it, who cares?

Just got email from my Sis, she said that she & her hubby had come home from their cruise (Carnival, thank goodness they got home alive after all we've heard about Carnival) - they tooled around Nassau in a Jeep,& now hubby wants to buy a Wrangler. I told her to tell him to remember to wave! Gotta train 'em up right!

My wife thinks the "wave" is silly. I, however, agree with most on this thread that it is a unique club. Kind of like the NRA handshake. Those who aren't members just wouldn't understand. I'll wave even if you do not wave back.

Tell your sisters hubby to go for it, that's how I got hooked, bombing around st.croix... The beast! Out near udal, princessa....tons of fun took me two years of jonesing and only driving other peoples jeeps before I turned in my 2012 VW CC FOR A 98 tj... Best move ever! Instead of payments I'll make some mods. I'm happy my wife and kids are happy and it's just as fun as any car I've driven. Just returned the VW last week and had no remorse at all.

I'm a JK mom. Forget AC...we like our top down, windows...heck id remove the doors if I didn't think the kiddos would jump, sorry no parachutes installed just yet, LOL. The kids are jeepers in training, they love it with the top down so they can throw their hands up above the roll bar and give their jeep wave. If id let her, my girl'd be hanging out the window saluting every jeep and my boy'd be up on the roll bar giving a standing ovation. They have already picked out their jeeps (btw...they r 7 and 9) Boy wants a CJ we build together, the girl wants mine or anything in camo. I've noticed a lot of JK's not waving back, we just wave harder...even broke two in this week, they finally started waving. Its likely many of us JKers are new, wave frantically with a smile, I guarantee they will start asking why on earth they are being waved at...and get excited when they find out why. Consider it duty of the veteran to teach the newbies. If the newest arent educated they might go get...dare I say it....a hummer, ugh. Jeepers don't let jeepers drive hummers. Be a pal, share the wave

On my way home from work yesterday I was about to pass over an I-5 over pass and noticed a nice YJ behind me. As he turned off before the overpass, a JK went by and I gave him a wave but, I think he was paying to much attention to the road as I did not recieve a wave back. "great that he was looking where he was going". Just behind this guy a few hundred yards was an nice older CJ and got a wave. only to look up and an other JK was behind him. Yes, I got the hand off the wheel and a nod from him.
