Definitely noticed this a bit. More of a problem with women than JKs though. Not sure non-wrangler jeep owners are aware of it either.

Hey all,
I have come up with something that might help out with the whole Jeep Wave thing.

I have an iPhone App that I made that is based on the "official" Jeep Wave, but cleaned up to a lot smaller group of categories that makes it a little easier to use. After all, it would be difficult to try to select from the multiple categories in the official wave requirements while driving down the road.

I am getting ready to release the app, but I need a picture of what the Jeep Wave App would show as a Rank 2 Jeep. I am looking for a CJ model, with some mods and some mud. Picture should show off the Jeep from the side or front. Please PM me if you are interested and I will let you know what information I need.

BTW, if your Jeep picture is chosen, you will receive recognition in the app and a FREE copy of the free app. Yes, I did say free twice. In our experience, we've found that Jeep owners have a great sense of humor. ;-)

Also, once we release the app, we have plans for a monthly contest for users to submit their pics and info to be included in monthly updates to the app.

Thanks,
John

Yeah, Android users. Aren't they like Hummer drivers? Only kidding. Unfortunately, I don't know how to program the Android, although I heard it is not any more difficult than the iPhone.

Once I get some time, I will look into that or see if I can find someone that might be willing to program something similar on the Android.

I just got a Wrangler. prior to that I had a Liberty and before that a Grand Cherokee. I never heard of the wave until I just read it on this forum a few minutes ago. No other Jeep owner I know has ever mentioned it. Wow!

Yes. It seems that the Jeep Wave is not known by a lot of people. That is the motivation for creating an iPhone App - and possibly and Android App. I figured with the popularity of smartphones it might be a good way to get the information out there so more Jeep people will know about the Wave.

The wave seems to be a mod thing!!! Jeepers with mods wave back all the time, stock jeepers not so much... When I had my TJ everyone waved but I think ( my opinion ) with the unlimited's and 4 doors on the market now jeep has become a vehicle anyone can appreciate, which is great, the TJ era and back guys bought jeeps cause they were jeeps... And a good percentage of people now buy jeeps cause....... Any ideas??

So new to the wrangler. I live in Ca, so we already know I'm a terrible driver. But was driving down the road in my JK 6spd Rubicon and was given my first wave. Had a cell phone in one hand, drink in the other, all while in the middle of shifting into 4th. And was still able to pull off some hybrid, "throw your phone out the window, spill your drink in your lap, and look like a fool wave". Which I think I will later copywrite and wave like that from now on.

On our weekends, my wife and I drive in my Jeep (2003 green Sahara), and we do "the wave" and get a few wave-backs. My wife drives a Honda Fit the rest of the week, but still waves to Jeeps... and she wonders why they don't wave back...

I found out about the wave, first thing. As a former motorcycle rider i am accustom to waving at similar vehicles. however, i do not get why school bus drivers wave.
I was also told that the 'wave' is intended to be a high-five.

I just recently got my Jeep and had forgotten about the Jeep wave. I was drooling over a local Jeep and the owner waved and snapped me out of my trance and that's when I remembered "Hey, I'm in a Jeep, wave!".

I am finding the wave to be a wrangler thing, anyone with a liberty or other such model tends to be oblivious. That is more reason to wave to everyone with a Jeep badge on their vehicle, it's a rule isn't it, we should all have to sign off on it when we buy our first jeep. Just saying...

Wrangler Wave

I just got my first Jeep ( a 2010 JK). Took me about a week to figure out that perfect strangers were waving at me. Seems to be a Wrangler thing only, ignore the soccer Mom Jeeps. I try to wave at every Wrangler I see. About 50/50 with returns. Just another cool thing about Wranglers...

So, I guess you mean the soccer mom Jeep is the 4 door. I have one, and I love it so one day I don't have to drive a mini van. Horrah for soccer mom Jeeps!

The "wave" has been used for many years and with many vehicles. I do it in the Jeep and the Harley - it was originally more of a salute to the other person - some us it as a greeting - hey, nice to see you out on two ( or four) wheels...

so, I originally had planned to wave to all Wranglers with 2 doors. Then the most unbelievable thing happened. The driver of a 4 door waved first! I figured if she knew to wave she deserved a return wave. Also I pass the same red 2 door every single day & we wave every time. This way I know I'll be getting at least 1 wave a day!

Had my JK for about a month now, first Jeep. Knew about the wave goin in. I guess since I knew a bit about the community and INTEND to Mod my Jeep (still working on the funds / order / specifics) I fall on the Jeeper side as opposed to the Jeeps Are Trendy side?

Lots of Jeeps 'round here. I saw 12 Wranglers on the way to work this morning. The drive is 5 miles. I waved at all of 'em, but it was dark and all I caught were 2 waves back.

This is a long thread, so I may have missed someone already stating this: seems to me the newer the jeep, the less likely to get a wave back. Am I right or is it just a local trend?

I just got my 1st Jeep (JK) a couple weeks ago and I wave to all the other wranglers. I've noticed that all the woman jeep drivers wave, most JK's or semi stock jeeps wave but heavily modded jeeps ignore me since I'm still stock. I'm assuming this is normal?
