I feel Vegas is kind of slim on the waving also, some days everyones waving and others its like WTH is this guy waving at me for.... I also think it has to do with what side of town your on. One side of town i wouldn't dare wave at anyone, while another side you feel like there are bunch of snooty prudes. Then there's sometimes an ol'timer will be driving by and ill wave, and he does nothing, and i can hear him in my head saying "young whipper snapper think he knows what having a Jeep means with his new Jeep."

Down here not many females do the wave, but today a smoking hot blond in a red JK threw me the wave... I almost crashed into a row of hedges tryna' wave back.

I noticed not many females do the way.
It's a sausage fest where I live, and so I think maybe they think I'm trying to hit on them like every other guy is.

I've got the oppostite problem. I drive a JK and can't get anyone to wave back! I'd say I get reciprocation about 25% of the time.

Gotta admit,I don't usually wave to jk's myself less they wave back ahead of time.
The wave has always been a Wrangler thing and the jk is a wrangler cherokee hybrid so it's a hit and miss seeing that cherokee don't do the wave very often to other cherokees.
Maybe it's because the jk is more convenient like the cherokee, therefore you have non jeepers driving them.

What major conveniences have changed for the newer models? Mine is fairly bare bones other than whats in the dash. When I get out of the wifes F150 I feel like I'm getting into a flintstone mo-bile

how exactly is the jk more convenient than the cherokee? What does my jeep have that a TJ doesn't?

I bought a JK so i could get a non-rustbucket. I do live in michigan afterall............................

Options? none!

"my jeep gets me dates" thread. :P

yeah, women never wave here. I think its because women don't actually look out the windshield while driving.

Trunk space, 4 doors, and freeway comfort. Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking the JK, just stating the reason some folks don't do the wave when driving one. I have an XJ YJ and a TJ and love them all for there own purposes.

I just don't understand why you wouldn't wave to someone because theirs is newer and slightly more comfortable. I also ride a harley and make it a point to wave to ALL brands and year models.

Have you ridden in a JK because LOL at "freeway comfort." this thing is no more or less comfortable than my TJ was.

Your other complaints are against the four door model specifically. Letting other people get in and out of a vehicle comfortably sure subtracts from the true nature of a Jeep.

No no no, you guys are taking this all wrong lol. Love the 4 doors love the jk, its the best of both worlds. Can't wait to get one. Just stating why "some"" folks don't do the wave at jk owners. Now if your jk is lifted and obviously a jeepers toy, then yeah you should be getting the wave.

Anyhow, hope I haven't offended anyone.

Hi i'm a really new Jeeper, one week. So Im learning all the new jeeper language. does this message have a spell check? I bought an 08 wrangler x with 109k on it. It is in like new condition, and runs great so far. I would like to know if there is a way to inprove the gas mileage. I've learned a lot so far on this forum site and really enjoy reading what other Jeepers have to say. jkgunner

Why wouldn't it offend people? I haven't lifted my Jeep. I probably won't be lifting my Jeep. I'm not even much for off-roading. Why should that make me less worthy of a wave?

I am a female and I wave at every type of Jeep Wrangler. I notice at times I don't get a wave back but I still do it. Mine is a 4 door and as far as comfort going down the highway ha ha not - very rough ride, it's a 6 speed stick shift, no power windows or power locks, softtop so talk about noise wow it's loud going down the highway or if it rains or sleets ( I live in Ohio). Yes i like to go off roading when I can and drive it on the beach when on vacation but why because its a 4 door am I any less worthy than another Jeeper!? It's not lifted etc.. Geesh you guys.

I've known the Jeep wave since I was young, but I have to admit, since I got my JK I haven't participated in the Jeep wave. I've only had it a short while so it's still stock and I'd feel like that nerdy kid trying to fit in.

JK is just a little different... anyone willing to drive a YJ daily you know they are a Jeeper. The JK seems to draw a mixed crowd and unfortunately most of them just don't "get it".

Can I still wave at others and get some wave backs from others in Los Angeles area including old jeeperS & modofied/upgraded jeepS even though I'm a new jeeper of '14 JKU (yes,4 doorS) Oscar - Mike ? All stockS freedom edition but I only did plastidipped on wheels.
Well... I've been a jeeper for 6 weeks & went to Monterey, San Francisco, & Yosemite. And, I haven't had a good experience with waving sign/signal from others (not just new JKU owners or women).

Is there any requirementS or qualificationS?

Curious...

I prefer that not everone know straight up just by owning a Jeep. Let's me sort out who "gets it" and who doesn't. I mean that's the point of the wave right? An acknowledgement of being in the same club? The ones who see me and don't realize why I waved, are a different breed of Jeep owner, they are not experiencing the Jeep the same way I am.

Sometimes it's just because they don't know, when I first got my Jeep in '02 it took me a while to catch on, but when I did catch on it was definitly better understood than when I missed it.

Damn you guys put way to much thought and significance into a wave, I've been driving my old yj everyday since I bought it in '98, when I see another wrangler coming my way I wave, two doors, four doors, stock or not. I don't judge them, I like when I get a wave back. I notice most jk owners do not wave back, I'm not sure why. Perhaps my 20 year old rusty but trusty yj isn't worthy, perhaps the older <cough> man behind the wheel isn't the same as he used be, but I'll still wave every time it's just partially habit and partially instinct I don't think about it anymore, in my eyes everyone driving a wrangler is worthy of a wave.
