amen! it kinda irritates me when i and i don't get a back. i hate to say it but a lot of the guys around here with the heavy mods use their JKs as mall cruisers... most of the guys I see out of town (in the sticks) wave... cause we all have a little mud on the tires.

with love and admiration for all my fellow jeepers.

New to jeepin', but I definitely knew about the "wave" picked up my JK last week. It definitely seems to be a Wrangler thing in these parts.....

You know I don't get many waves back either, and actually got a snub reaction from a modded TJ (JK hater I think..) but the few times I do get a wave back, or even better somebody else waves at me first, makes it worth all the other times I don't get the wave.

My dealership is pretty clueless. They tried to tell me that the Rubicon was front wheel drive and that the "diff lock" button was for traction control on the highway.

Wow I was just thinking of the lack of Jeep wave this morn!! As a female who has had 4 Jeeps(00, 05 & 09 Wranglers, including an 83 CJ7 as a project (yes, I do all my own wrenching, welding & whatever! and yes I wheel the hell out of them) I have noticed a severe lack of Jeep wave, especially from JK drivers & most of them are women. I live in the north east part of Maryland where lifted trucks are a part of life. Guess the new Jeepers aren't really getting it. Wave dammit!!

Hey! I'm new. I wave...but most of the people that look like they've had their jeeps for a while seem oblivious...Does my JKU Sahara not rate a wave?

Whatever, I love it and I'll keep on waving.

The wave.

My wife and I live in Southeastern Massachusetts and we drive a 1995 Wrangler. We have our waves returned most of the time. It is usually the JK's who don't wave.

Damn....well, I'm trying to start a JK wave trend here in Southern MD, so I hope it works! We seem to be about 50-50 around here right now....

I drive a JKU, in the city I hardly ever get a wave returned, but as I head north out of the city the number of waves returned jumps quite a bit.

Eitherway the times I do get a wave returned makes up for all the times I don't!!

Just picked up my first ever Wrangler on Monday ('08JK Rubi) and jokingly I asked the sales guy when we were going to go over the rules of owning a Wrangler. He looked at me like I had 2 heads (come to think of it I get that reaction a lot). So I asked him about "the wave" and he just laughed.
Anyway since I was aware of it before hand I offered and received my first two waves the second day I had it! Makes me proud to be a JK owner :-)

Ok, so I just got my first wrangler and 07 Sahara. I've wanted one since I was 16 (now 24) and it took me a trip to Afghanistan to get one. I've owned the jeep for two months but I have only been home to drive it about a month. It's completely stock as of now but hopefully that will soon change. Anyways, to the point, my favorite part so far (other than the top off in 50 degree weather) is the wave!!! Oh yea and I'm a female so yeah.... Some of us newbies are with the program!

Now whenever I am out, which most times I have atleast one kid with me, they are my lookouts, lol, I'll hear, HEY MOM here COMES one, and If i am not quick enough Ill look in my rear view and see my daughter waving at the passing jeep, I think she has recieved more waves than me!! Gotta start the "jeep wave" at a Young age!!

Don't know if its me or what but I went 0 - 8 today!!! Talk about upsetting. I was starting to get a complex, so when I stopped for a coffee I made sure to walk around the Rubi and make sure I didn't have a "Don't Wave to Me" sticker somewhere. If it looks like a Wrangler just spread the "wave", what's the worst that happens if its not? You put a smile on their face and make them wish they had a wrangler.

I don't know if I'm just ugly or what, but I've never had a girl wave back to me in a Jeep.

I think the JK peeps are more or less informed about the wave. But, I agree that education on the wave has priority. For instance, this one rather husky girl in a JK almost came to a stop at my side...instead of a simple lift of a hand, she started waving her arm inside the cabin violently...as if she were washing the windows or something. I couldn't help but smile and wave back.

I drive a JK and I wave all the time! I have noticed a few types of driver-Jeep combinations that I'm less likely to get a wave from (though I'm not gonna call anyone out by sharing my specific observations because they are generalizations which don't apply to everyone) and my son and I have our own little game where we try to accurately predict who will & won't wave as soon as the driver is actually visible and we're both getting pretty darn good at it. By the way my son is driving more often than not when we're in it together (at least for another 2 weeks til he turns 16 and gets his license instead of his permit when he will be excluded from the insurance on my Jeep) and I've noticed that more people wave back at him than they do me when I'm driving.

Glad you are back in the USA! I got my Jeep in October (female also) and always look forward to the "Wave". Jeep owners seem to have a really special bond.
