bah-hum-bug!

Jimbo got coat in his stocking! Seriously though my JKU gets waves returned from all models often enough, and my local jeep guys assured me they wouldn't hold my JK against me

New Jeep owner here. 2011 Rubicon. Saw all the posts about the "wave" and have made it a point to wave to others in Jeeps. No one has waved back .

Get used to it... Wave at the Jeep, forget the driver. It makes the rare wave back that much better.

Borrowed my Father's Jeep years ago when my vehicle was being serviced and was waved at the first time out. I immediately remembered waving while riding motorcycles and waved back. Kinda liked that.

When I lived in SC Indiana (North Vernon, Seymour, Columbus, 06-07) nearly nobody waved, but I sure did. After a few months, it seemed that I was getting 80-85% wavebacks and my ex told me she thought I had gotten everyone else to start doing it because I had been. Never know, only takes one to start a trend.

In the Michiana area I get about 95% waves, and we usually do it at about the same time (11-11 today). In the winter, it is just a wave off of the steering wheel, especially if they are shifting. Summertime, arms come out and flap wildly...

And about the JK's, I knew a couple of people who owned them because they liked them better than the Comanche, so had no idea why they were being waved at. One thought it was because she was a she, or that they might know her or something. I always wave at them and get at least 75% waveback now, but it used to be much less.

Have a Happy New Year... RT

I think the "wave" has started a significant down hill decline when they started making wranglers 2wd...... although I have to agre that a roof rack helps for some reason (and a snorkel), I guess a jeep is like a spinner bait, the brighter the skirt and flashier the blades.... the more attention it attracts

Only had my 98 Wrangler for a few weeks but the wave is alive and well in central Pennsylvania. It comes pretty easy, been waving to fellow motorcycles for years. Tend to catch myself waving at motorcycles when I'm not on my bike, lol, oops!

It's winter right now, so it's just a hand off the steering wheel wave in the general direction. Is it odd that the temp reached 50 degrees last week and I was so close to taking the top off? I can't freaking wait till warmer weather for the topless, doors off full on arm above the windshield wave! (if it weren't for having a hard top and everyone i knew to as for help being at work, that top would have been off)

Oh, mostly I only get Wrangler-to-Wrangler waves. I don't care if they wave back or not. Heck, I recognized a Wrangler's headlights coming up to pass me tonight on the highway and I was able to initiate a wave.

On my way to work, no one in the city waves. Mostly because the people in the city don't care what car they drive, just whatevers cheap. don't understand how the wrangler is more important.

Just wondering, has anyone ever tried flyers or cards explaining The Wave? Leave them on all the Jeeps you see and maybe we'll get the Jeep Wave going 100% of the time. Or maybe wranglerforum.com business cards? Then they can figure it out for themselves?

I like that idea. Around here I see a quite a few of jeeps and thought about letting them know about WF, and putting something on their window would be a great idea.

I notice a lot of TJ's dont wave. CJ's, YJ's and some JK's wave. I've owned a TJ since 2000 and just bought the JKU in May 2010. I've gotten more waves in the TJ than the JK. Snobs I guess, heck with em I always wave.

Got a wave on my test ride!

First, let me say I am a newbie to the Jeep community. I have an '07, so I guess that makes it a JK model. When I took it out for a test ride from the stealer I got a wave, a peace sign over the steering wheel gesture. I immediatly waved back, being a m/c rider I recognized the deal quickly. I liked it, and have found that wave to be common, 70% of the time I pass a Wrangler anyway. Never any other models. Anyway, I appreciate the tradition, but have not become accustomed to starting the wave yet, working on it. It's different on 4 wheels for me, 2 wheels it's natural. The Jeep is awesome though and will be competing against the bike on the the sunshine days this summer.
Bottom line, I wave to Wranglers and will work on initiating the wave.

I've had my jeep a few months now. Wanted one since I was a kid. I must say that I wave whenever I notice another wrangler. It's about fifty-fifty here in Huntsville.

i get a fair amount of waves on corpus christi now. i did not used to get htem a lot though. i got waved at a lot in my cherokee (it had a 5" lift though with mud terrains and camo paint) and we never got waved at in our lifted liberty even though we sat taller then all the jeeps i parked next to at the store.

my black yj gets good waves though and i see lots of new wranglers in town. mostly tjs but they all seem to wave back. i even saw a new one with a militaryjeepers.com sticker on base today. really new officer who probably is here for pilot training

I'm a 'JK' owner...and I wave if waved at. But Liberties and such haven't waved and there are alot of different Jeeps around here so I don't bother with them much. I agree Wrangler owners are more prone to 'the wave'.

Yesterday was warm enough to have front portion of my hard top off and I got more waves.
