I'm sure all of you have noticed the lack of "the wave" from many new JK owners, (not saying that all JK owners are like that, just the majority)
So I ask of you If you happen to be passing a Dealership and you happen to have time stop in and talk to the sales associates and explain "The Jeep Wave" to them and ask for them to pass on the wave to all new owners of Jeeps.
I've had my JK for 5 months and I didn't know any jeepers before then. The dealership didn't tell me about the wave, girlfriend did. Waving is automatic now, but I only get a wave back about half the time regardless of what model they're driving. Funny thing is, twice I've missed a fellow Jeep and was honked at to get my attention. That's fine too
thaks for the heads up.hate to admit my ignorance, but ive noticed i been waved at by other jeepers. figured it was the jeep, but didnt know it was to be expected. now i know.

Nobody told me either, when someone waves to me or says hello I acknowledge the courtesty. But when I noticed all the Jeeps waving, I figured it out pretty quick what it was about.
I figure most of the JK drivers are too young to get the idea. I've also noticed that women don't wave like men do...but you'll know if I'm coming...I'll wave.
Actually!! From what I have experienced, woman do the full out hand wave like there is no tomorrow! Guys throw the deuces or two fingers up while hands on the wheel!
I wave at all jeeps, as long as i see them. I actually got true jeep wave back from a mom the other day. Both of us had out tops off (jeep tops, unfortunately), i was at the red light and she was turning so i stuck my arm up and she stuck her whole arm out the window and yell "WOOOOO!!!!"
just got my yj.... so now I know... I have to admit I was totally ignorant... I used to ride with my friend who would do the jeep wave all the time (and believe me, there are a ton of Wranglers here in south florida! it's crazy!). and I never put two and two together! Wow, I'm retarded
Living in the city of Boston I rarely get a wave back. I think this should be something written in the owners manual but I am not sure many read that anyway.
I do. I'm reading it now, and I learned some interesting things about my new LJ - how the rear seat comes out, where to find the tire pressure information, Trac-Lok rear axle, etc.
i love doing the wave but sometimes i dont get one back maybe my little stock jeep frightens them haha, i agree with the owners manual idea, deff put it in there
yes that is why, stock jeeps should mean that you just bought it and haven't modded yet or you are low on money. if the latter is the case, don't spend anymore money on frivolous things, and UPGRADE YOUR JEEP! there is a phrase i love to use. "your jeep is just the downpayment for mods"
I guess I'm a snob, or socially awkward. I didn't like the wave when I drove my '73 beetle either, everyone in a beetle would wave... but I'm cordial and try to return the wave, can't admit to initiating though... I have a YJ and a JK, def. notice more waves from non-JK drivers.
I just picked my 2010 JK up on monday. The next morning on the way to work a guy passed me in a TJ and waved. I didn't. Then a few minutes later a lifted JK unlimited passed me and waved, too. This time I figured it wasn't a coincedence so I waved back. Been waving since. Still, only about 50% of the jeepers I pass wave back, but that's a heck of a lot better than when I had a Land Rover, lol!
went from a '71 DJ to '10 JK, so yeah, I wave. Get a lot less returns in the JK than in the DJ, but who cares. It' snot my problem if TJ guys are snobs...
I find it hard when driving my van or my motorcycle to not waive at jeeps...
I can imagine jeepers saying WTF? that guy in the chevy van just waived at me? Who the heck is that?!? Oops, sorry guys, forgot I was'nt in my jeep today!
I did that just this morning. Took the Escort up to fuel and get meds for my mother and waved at a JK. I saw the guy look at me with a puzzled look like"do I know this guy?" I laughed and drove on.
How sad is this? I wave everytime and just assume I won't get a wave back. That way, I won't get disapointed when they snub me. Yes, I too get shocked when a JK owner waves.
Funny thing, every time my wife is driving my Jeep, she gets a wave 90% of the time or better.
It's best when you have the top down and you have your passengers stand up and go crazy for the other Jeeps! Not safe at all at 50mph but hey, thats what we Jeepers do best!
Used to drive a big truck around and they all waved, especially when I was out in the county, far from civilization... Now that I've got the Jeep, I think about waving but it's usually when I'm trying to shift gears and by the time I get that done, they're long gone. I'm working on it though!
i have a bad habbit of waving when the surburbin and it should be poasted right above the WARNING lable on the visor i have it that here in centeral fl omots nobody waves im 18 now and have been around jeeps forever mudding rock climbing and everything in between and i hate that only a fraction of the people wave back. or when u c a jeeper on the side of the road and a nother jeeper just drives right by and waves we all need to come together as a jeep comunits and stick together as a family.
Oh, you also need to wave if you are trailering your jeep
Thats the best wave! Guy was driving a big nice duramax and had a TJ on the back with had to of been 42+ size tires and all kinds of crawling goodies. Got the wave My Jeep isnt stock though. Ive noticed the stocker the jeep, the less likely the wave sadly :/
Oh, and Ive had numerous waves that have happened on large freeways (across the median) and wide 2 lane high ways that have a 30+ foot grassy median. Still get the wave!
