Eeeek @ MPG

Hey Jeepers,

Been awhile since my last post. I've been enjoying the Jeep a lot =)

However, my driving situation had totally changed from a few months ago.

Previously, I was local only so MPG was never a concern.

I now have a job that I'm rolling 100+ miles a week in (When a recruiter contacts me for a one-time project, I actually have to turn it down b/c of the distance sometimes so I'm loosing out on $).

I'm literally getting 11 MPG. I filled up the tank from empty to complete, it cost about $50 and I got 200 miles out of it.

For some reason, my tank is suppose to be 19--but despite it being on empty I was only able to fill till 12 Gals???

We rented a car
for a weekend trip, drove a bit over a 1000 miles and it cost less than $100 in fuel!

Any one in a situation where you didn't want to get rid of the Jeep but due to work/etc -- the gas is starting to get too high?

I'm really starting to dread the pump.

If I was local only as I was before, I wouldn't care one bit about MPG.

Anyone else feeling the fuel-up pain?

you could look for a cheap honda or neon or toyota as a beater to just drive around for work i really think this is something that would be worth it for you.

I came from driving a 35-40mpg neon so i literally get half the mileage or less but i only drive about 40 miles a day and its 50 times the fun

That's really, really low for a stock jeep IMO. Should be getting at least 15 I would think and no more than 19

Yeah the PO said they got about 17 MPG highway, I never seen that.

And I'm not "hate'n" on the previous owners, they were a great couple, still glad they sold the Jeep to me, I got it in immaculate condition, dude had receipts for everything.

And yeah I gotta start looking around for something else and keep the Jeep for local.

May consider trading the other ride, my truck, for something.

Have you checked tire pressure, air filter, changed the oil, etc?

Yeah, changed oil/added air to tires - 2 weeks ago.

And changed air filter, a few months ago.

If you can add only 12 gallons to the tank and you got 200 miles on a tank, isn't that about 16.7 mpg? Still not great for your commute.

Good point.

I don't think you were empty if only 12gal went in.
