Engine Cleaning

This may seem like a noobish question but this is my first vehicle that has ever experienced off roading and ridiculous amounts of mud. What do you guys and girls use to clean out your engine bay? I have a fair amount of mud around the edges of the engine and the components.

^^This. I'll spray on a little Simple Green if things are really nasty, but a hose and spray nozzle will git er done.

Cover the distributor with a plastic bag or some saran wrap. Keep out of the lectrical as best you can X2 on the simple green or if it is really oil some engine cleaner and a bruch. Leave the airbox closed up and you should be good. I normally do it with the engine running at temp any grease is soft and the simeple green and a brush is very effective.
