engine turns off

i have a sahara 1994 wrangler and while I'm driving the jeep would suddenly turn off....what are the causes?

Probably fuel flow or electrical. Check coil wires and fuel filter, etc. Make sure you didn't run out of fuel.

Need some more information. Engine temperature and oil pressure when it happens. Does it spit and sputter before it dies? Just suddenly dies with no warning? Could be a list of things...ignition system, fuel system, engine overheated, wiring issue...

engine temp and oil pressures are normal...it would just die w/out warning

OK... first thing I would look at is fuel filter, cheap and easy to replace. If that doesn't fix it, if you don't have one already, borrow a fuel pressure gauge and hook it up with a hose long enough to reach the cab. Drive around and see where your fuel pressure is, I haven't looked it up, but being fuel injected it should probably be in the 50-65 psi range. If it's not then the fuel pump may be going. If it is good, then you likely have an ignition/ECM problem, or something as simple as a bad ground somewhere. Just no telling without having it there to run some tests unless it finally starts throwing codes at you.

I had the EXACT same problem. I would hit a pothole and BOOM! everything was dead... couldn't figure it out and was getting very annoyed with it.

Turned out to be the positive battery cable on the opposite end where it attaches to the selenoid. The nut had vibrated loose and was only finger tight. I locked it back down and that was quite a long time ago. Never had trouble since. I also learned at that time the these throttle bodys need a constant voltage to operate. One slip of that battery cable and she was done for...

Just something to check quick, follow your + cable down and see if you can wiggle it or move it at all. Mine was able to spin side to side on the nut until I tightened it down good.

Forunately, at one point the end actually sparked when I was under the hood moving things around. Thats what led me to that connection.
