Engo Winch Review

Engo Winch Model: E12000 (12,000 LB)

Line: 3/8 Wire rope @ 85 FT

Mount: Standard Winch plate on stock bumper

Price: $349

Rating: 4 out of 5

The winch came packed in a box with all hardware needed to mount it to the winch plate and appeared to be grade 8 I opted to use my own hardware purchased locally. I mounted the winch plate to the stock bump using stock hardware. The housing for the solenoid is soft plastic ( think tackle box ) and has a rubber gasket. I choose to mount mine under the hood as oppose to on the winch itself. The remote is basic with an in/out labeled rocker switch that is shaped like an aircraft controller. The lead for the remote is 3 prong female to 3 prong male on the solenoid box. It is shaped to only plug in one way. I moved the plugin to the interior on my Jeep. The overall quality on the winch is good although some areas IE controls, hardware, and finish leave a little to be desired. I will be replacing the wire rope with synthetic rope (personal preference)

PROS: Price, Setup, Ease of Use, Warranty

CONS Supplied Hardware, cheesy Plastic

OVERALL OPINION For the money this winch is going to be hard to beat. Are there better winches out there? Yes, at three times the price. I had the chance to put this to the test and it worked well. Plain and simple IT WORKED.

I put the Engo to its first real world test today. I went out for some lite trail riding and ended up finding a washout to play in. After easing into the washout I made my way up to the other side and found myself dug in pretty good into some south Georgia mud and clay. I ran the line out to an awaiting Oak tree and with the greatest ease the Engo pulled me up and out of the washout. I should have taken pics but I was like then felt then grabbed the winch and was so I though about pics on the way home I need better tread on the wheels before I try that washout again but in the mean time I have my ENGO if I find myself in over my head again.

Nice to know you like it. I am looking at one of these new Engo E9000 with the new synthetic line.

keeps from having to raise the hood or reach into the mud to plug it in. The cord for the remote is more than long enough to still allow you to get to the front to keep an eye on the winch.
