After my parents seperated I lived with my mom, she worked her tail off to help get me through high school and college, drove an old crappy Pontiac Sunbird. Summer of '88 I was in Korea working and she bought a brand spanking new Chrysler LaBraon GTC Convertible. The thing had it's issues to start with and the dealership hated when she'd drive in because she was matriculates about maintenance and she could chew that ass of any swindler. In 2001 she retired and bought a Cady, gave my brother the LeBaron with about 43,000 miles on it. He kept it for a few years then I bought it from him, this thing was my mom's baby. He'd racked it up to 67,000 miles, but it was still in great shape. We added ATVs, trailers, etc. to our household and I was running out of space, I parted with that car for about $500 to a good family that needed a good car for their daughter. She trashed it with in a few months. Made me totally sick to see it trashed and driving around with a dent in the side of it. I never should have sold it and I still beat myself up for doing it.

I had a 1966 CJ-5 with a built Dauntless V-6, Offenhauser Intake, Isky cam, Hooker Headers, Carter AFB Carb, full floating axles, 3 speed with Warn OD unit, full cage and the list goes on. After destroying the tranny wheeling I decided to tear it down and start a rebuild on the whole rig. Planned a SMC swap and the whole deal. The now ex-wife hated it and hated me spending money on anything. I eventually got sick of hearing about it so I sold it to a guy I worked with. He in turn sold it to another coworker who finished the rebuild only to have his son wreck it. I regret that move almost every day.

Old School Pic of it.

My xj

I didn't have the money to really do what I wanted to it. I got bored of it and thought I wanted a truck. Well I didn't like the truck and went back to a tj haha.

I had to do the adult thing and sell my 2001 Mustang BULLITT (#01633) to get a four door for the family. The X left me not even 5 months later and I was pissed for having to get rid of my Favorite car I'd ever owned.

Not yet.
I have only got rid of a vehicle because I was ready to, not because I had to.

24 years old, automatic, no A/C for the last 7 years of its life, dents galore, and an undiagnosable source of smoke from the engine that lasted the last 2 years. Broken rear window (from a butthole in Brooklyn) replaced with a hefty bag and gorilla tape for the last 2 years.

And freakishly fun to drive. No clue why, other than the independent suspension. Automatic plus 120bhp (from the factory 24 years ago) shouldn't be a blast around town, but this was. Also, the original window had EPA estimates of 30mpg but I was getting ~33mpg with 200k, roof racks, and at speeds well above what the EPA tested at.

When I moved to NYC in 2008, I had to sell all of the bikes pictured for a lack of space. In 2011, I got the TJ. In 2012, I moved back to the Southeast and logistically couldn't make two cars "work". Not that I couldn't afford it; a parking spot is $15 per month. However, transporting it would have cost nearly $1000. I couldn't justify that with the $300 street value...

RIP little guy.

Several times. Every time I traded in a stick shift Chevy on an automatic SUV. Really regret trading in my 1995 Chevy SWB V-8 5 spd on a Mazda SUV. My main vehicle today is a 2011 2 dr. Wrangler, but it is auto. Last summer picked up a 2004 Chevy SWB 5 spd but it is still not the equal to the 1995. The older series was slightly smaller and had tighter better handling.

This one. Traded it in while buying a new house and ended up with an Acura Integra sold that sucker two months later. A year later ended up with my current 07 JK four door!

2004 Ford Lightning. I had this when I was working on a strictly commission basis and had several bad months and it was either sell it or get it repo'd and ding my credit. I opted to sell it. Dont have a pic at the moment but this is basically what it was...

1997 ford aspire 5-speed with not one good synchronizer, spray painted black with flames on the front(just for fun cause it was a POS). Sold it for the whopping kbb value of $400. Oh, and it got 46 mpg on the highway. I regret ever selling it!

My dad had a super bird back in the day. He was 17. Then they changed the laws to where you had to have car insurance, and for that car, and a 17 year old, it was too much $ for him. He had to sell it.

Thanks but I know where the guy lives that bought it from me. Nice kid, takes real good care of her. I've been tempted to tell him if he ever wants to get rid of her to contact me first!!!

My 1969 Triumph TR-6 sportscar. There was a young kid at one of my accounts who LOVED it & kept pestering me to buy it which I finally agreed to. It was as perfect as a several year old car could have been. He totalled it 6 weeks later.

It was very similar to the pic below though mine had the then very cool Goodyear Redline tires. Fun car, I did a lot of sports car rallys with it. It had a big torquey straight-six cylinder engine with dual side-draft carbs on it so it was no slouch. It even had an electrically controlled 2-speed rear axle. British sports cars were very cool to own back then, we all waved to each other on the street... exactly like us Jeep owners do. Surprisingly, that car never gave me any problems at all and I STILL miss that car!!

My '95 civic EX. Sold it for $800 with 195k on it. Seen the kid I sold it to over a year later and it was still running strong with 230+k.
First car I ever bought with my own money and I still miss it. I have a soft spot for older hondas

The unibody frame was bent. I actually flew over 70 feet through the air and over a guard rail. Nothing on that car was straight, but it still start and ran. Sad thing was that I was doing the speed limit just had 3 tires blow at the same time and lost it.

I sold this 2004 TJ, and immediately started kicking myself in the butt for selling it. Its still the best Jeep I've ever owned.

Also sold this Jeep, and promptly regretted it. The 6.1 Hemi and SRT handling were incredible.
