Excessive shifter movement?

man, idk whats up, but whenever i hit a bigger bump or something of the sort that thing wobble side to side like its no ones business(the shifter). Is it normal for it to move that much, if at all?

sounds like you bushing between the body and the frame are bad or you bolts are not tight, b/c everything should move together, if the tranny is wiggling so should the frame and so should the body so there should be no significant independent wiggling really

check the trans mount (where the tranny bolts to the crossmember)

Mine does it when I have broken the motor mounts.
The 4 cylinder and the Atlas break the stock mounts all the time.

Check them out as well.

Mine moves a lot on rough roads too. Never really thought there was anything wrong until I read this thread. I'll be taking it to the dealer, (still under warranty) Monday to have them check it out. I'll let you know what they say.

Took mine to the dealer today to have it checked out under warranty. They said everything was tight and found no problems. They said they've seen Wranglers with a lot of shifter movement before, but there ususally isn't a problem related to it.

I'll be keeping an eye on it though.
