Extra play in rear diff?

I currently have the rear axle up on jack stands, researching an issue I've been having. I was spinning a wheel by hand to check on something.

Obviously, when you spin one wheel, the other turns in the opposite direction. I've never done this before but I notice that I can turn the wheel about an inch in either direction before the diff catches and the other tire starts to spin.

I have nothing to base this on, but it doesn't seem right to me. Put my mind at ease....is this normal? Or do I have an issue with my diff?

BTW, this is w/ the trans in park. In neutral the opposite tire doesn't move as I have a limited slip.

Ok, thanks. Had never checked this before and for some reason didn't think that much play was normal. Now I just have a bent axles to deal with. LOL
