Did I miss it? or is it not mentioned wether or not it would stil be produced in Ohio. Would hate to see all production go overboard.

Yeah, they're just planning on building in China for the Asian market. At least that's how it reads, so they should still be building Jeeps here same as always. I just don't like to see any company moving any manufacturing to China. I've had experience with manufacturing in China, I helped set up and train a group there years ago when the company I worked for decided to open a factory there. Yeah...that worked out wonderfully!

得到我的吉普今天上午,我的地毯是濕的。我覺得我的屋頂漏水。

Which, in traditional Chinese, means: Got in my Jeep this morning, and my carpet was wet. I think my roof leaks.

Just tell them it's a Government mandated "feature".

I think the plan is to build a new jeep over there, for the Chinese market. Building it over there keeps the tarrifs down, and helps keep them in the game.

F*CK China, F*CK anything made there, F*CK the American business owners who sell out to them (like Chrysler), & F*CK the American company executives who move the factories to china, thus eliminating much needed jobs for fellow Americans !!! IMHO

Sorry guys,

I'll get off my soap box about it now

Well FIAT sued to be called "fix it again Tony," so that doesn't surprise me that the are setting up operations in a a country where "quantity and not quality is job #1." I hope that they don't start slipping in Chinese-made parts in Jeeps made in here, allow though Jeep has some parts made in Latin America.

The plan to build Jeeps in China, is for the Chinese market only. If they bring Jeeps over from the USA the tarrifs that the Chinese place on them make the price way too high to sell them over there. It's not to build Jeeps in China to ship back here. China is just a Huge market, so why not sell some Jeeps there. Maybe Chrysler will make some money off it, and pay back the bail out money.

China is that the biggest new market for American car makers, but the Chinese want to make everything in their country. Why don't the Chinese buy American-made cars to help balance the trade deficit with the U.S.? They obviously won't do that because they want to make everything under the sun and sell it to the rest of the world, especially to the U.S. They'll just import the raw materials to make these products. In the meantime, the Chinese will be driving more cars and increasing their demand for oil. Now that the pipeline from Canada is on the back burner, the Canadians have a deal in the works with the Chinese. China was not meant to be an industrialized nation because they're form a state-run capitalism, which has no regard for people and the environment.

No doubt as a country we need to grow a set, and stop trying to hold hands with everyone and sing kumbya(?) And the pipe line deal seemed like a no brainer, I thought we could use the 20k plus jobs and the oil from a country that we're friends with.....

I agree that our country needs to grow a set of ... and get tough with the Chinese before they are in the position of power to get tough with us!

The reason they've outsourced manufacturing to foreign countries is so that they do a number of things besides make more money; make the pollution someone else's problem, AND make the countries that want the products use up their own natural resources. We even have them use their resources for OUR market here, in exchange for paper dollars that aren't real. It is a strategic move, both militarily and nation-based, to make sure that we can outlast any country in a drawn-out war requiring lots of natural resources. The question is, since China is gearing up for war (there are at least FIVE GPS systems in place besides the US-based), how long will it take for our manufacturing base to become self-sufficient again, since China has *** 97% *** of the rare earth metals mining and market? You need REMs as strategic metals for high-tech and military applications.

For some reason, I have heard the phrase, "We are all keynesians, now," but I have not heard the one that says, "We are all idiots, now."
