Finally went.....

.....offroad!!!

On Saturday I went out to Rausch Creek in PA for a guided beginners ride.

I had an AMAZING time and had so much more fun than I ever thought I would driving my Jeep through a muddy water hole!

I highly recommend this 101/201 course for anyone who has never gone offroading before.
One, you get guided through various kinds of terrain, though basic, and get a feel for what it's like to ride in everything from mud, water, up/down steep inclines, etc....The leader spots you when necessary.
Two, it's a GREAT place to see what kind of mods people do to their Jeeps.
One thing I worry about is looking at photos on here and elsewhere on the internet and think what if I don't like a certain kind of bumper when I actually put it on my Jeep??
I thought I wanted an Olympic Rock bumper based on photos I've seen online (and prices), but, while they are nice, after seeing someone with the RR Mod XHD bumpers, I'm sold on those bumpers! I'll be spending more money, but I know I'll like what I get!

Here's a link to some photos:
Picasa Web Albums - Geoff Gersh - Rausch Creek, PA
Not the most exciting photos, but...I did have to concentrate on driving a bit!

Are you really a Geoff? What a ridiculous name.

I like this shot: it sort of suggests the last hill after a long, dirty day. Looks like you had some fun!

I am indeed a Geoff!! If I had a nickle for every time someone misspelled or mispronounced my name...I probably would have had enough to buy a Rubicon!!

Yes, tons of fun....!

Absolutely....I've been telling people it was like going for a hike in the woods, through water, mud, rocks....but you don't get your shoes dirty!

Besides, a dirty Jeep looks way cooler than some dirty muddy shoes!

How do you NOT get your shoes dirty when you go wheeling??? I am always a nasty muddy mess when we're done...

But you gotta get out and watch your friends... And sometimes even capture them on film, or help them get unstuck....

Very true....but, as this was a guided ride, the leader did all of the footwork that day! No one got stuck....

I'm sure as I offroad more I'll find myself in dirty muddy situations more often!

I'm heading over there this weekend with a few buddies. And then again next month with the rest of the gang...we usually organize a trip once a month so keep an eye on the trails section of the forum. Most trips are the last weekend of every month.

Yea I saw your thread about the trip this weekend...I wish I could join you all, but this weekend isn't good for me.

I'm going to do my best to join the May 15th trip...I assume that's the one you're talking about in May??

Ha! Yea I love the 2 door, not into how the 4 door looks at all....but I can understand it's appeal for some people.
