Yea the HOA here tries to bill the house for stupid stuff and the jeep. I just get to laugh, and well don't pay them.

That's why I bought a house in a neighborhood without an HOA.

I don't have a HOA either, but my town has a "code enforcement officer" cruising the neighborhoods. I was getting rid of a couch, and it was sitting in my driveway all of 3 days, and I get a picture of it in the mail saying "get rid of it".

Another reason I prefer my desert cabin on two and a half acres. I can have twenty couches on my property covered in mud, without being hassled. You see everything out there. I love it.

HOA- Home owners Association. I understand why they are in place but they just go over board on everything. We have this lady that walks with a notebook and a ruler (ruler to measure the height of the grass). She writes down every little thing out of the ordinary. I actually wrote a complaint since she replaced her garage door and never got it approved by the hoa lol.

Well, they are a pita, I was in realestate for many years.. So you need to request the exact violation they are talking about. I would guess it has to due with keeping the property in good standing or some other bs like that. I over paid my fee one time because they over billed me, I requested the difference back.. they said, um no we will apply that to you next bill. Wonderful people.

I came from a neighborhood with 90% with their heads up their sphincters. I moved rickety tick after all the acreage disappeared(had a five mile plus track for quads and dirtbikes)... Now there is an HOA which crawls up my arse when i work on my quad(atv is still at old house). So simple answer to thst, I haul arse on the roads and flip the hoa lady off every chance I get.

WAY WAY worse in some cases... the "strictness" varies wildly, but the big factor is that, as some are pointing out, some jackhole can fine you based on the HOA rules and their uppity *** opinion...

The ones that fine you generaly do not issue any warnings, and are usually out actively looking for any excuse to issue a fine, because it's basically how they fund their operations.

Military housing they just give you a warning, and if you don't fix it on your own they call your Commander and he hollers at you and sends your PSG to your house and it gets fixed

HOA's suck. When I was looking at moving to East Texas, I was informed of the nazi regime known as HOA....Out here we don't have those (well us regular folks don't).

I had some friends that read all the rules, and found different crap they could do that would piss off the HOA people w/o breaking any rules...call your local car club and request a 2, 3, 4, 5 AM driveby with open headers.

knew a guy who had an old Chevy p/u with a big block, he got a HOA ticket for something, so he did a burnout in front of the HOA pres. house at like 4AM, the black streaks were there for months...I know lots of people with issues with HOA's.

Payback is fun, I say get it all muddy, then do your damndest to knock the mud off in front of the HOA ladys house. They'll love that. Or get a crazy friend to drive his dirtbike through her lawn in the middle of the night. Or bleach on grass spelling out "HOA RULEZ!!!" or a large swastica...as I think the burning cross is a bit overdone.

oh, and pay the fine in loose pennies. I remember back in grade school we had new books in science class, and the teacher told us to all bring at least five bucks for book fines, as they were new, and we'd all be receiving fines.

I brought 5.00 in pennies, they were in rolls until the night before, then they were in a 1 gal bag. I loved the look on his face after he said "that'll be 3.50" and I pulled out a bag-o-pennies.

I can't imagine living in a place that is like that. even when I was an apt. dweller in college, I was allowed to do what I wanted. Sure the rules said "no working on your car in our lot". I still installed a rollcage in a miata with air tools and everything...nobody said anything to me. I refinished a Shotgun out on the community porch thing at one complex. I got a few confused looks, but that was all.

They are more than a just pain in the butt. They forclose on houses all the time. The sad part, the states allow it to happen, so these associations are like little dictatorships shoveing their opinions onto everyone in their area.

Check out the article.
