First time it rained with the top down

I find myself looking at weather reports and find myself worried when I see a chance of any rain at all. This my first jeep and more importantly my first new vehicle ever.

I know it'll get rained on someday but I'm not in any rush.

I was just wondering how you felt the first time you had the top down and your jeep got rained on. I know everyone says its no big deal but I the thought of it still freaks me out a bit.

This may or may not only pertain to when your jeep was new but I was wondering....

My Jeep got "rained in" more the first couple years than it has in the last 6--never really hurt anything--just lucky I guess--but got faster at putting top on-or throwing on bikini top. So far so good.

Windows are in the clover leaf. Will drop the top noonish after I'm clear of the weather.

Wet.

It happens with any convertible if you drop the top. Eventually you will get wet. Fortunately, everything dries.

I've had a convertible before (yes I know a jeep isn't a convertible) but it was much easier to put the top up quickly so it wasn't ever an issue.

i was really pissed the first time it happened because i had a tarp on it, but it blew off in the 50 MPG winds that were blowing on the farm that i had to work on i the storm, i took out the carpet for a week and tried to let the pools drain from the drain plugs, luckily my WetOkley seat covers kept my seats VERY dry underneath which i wasn't expecting because they are old, but i just threw them in the wash and they wee good as.... used.
Now, i just put a plastic bag over the seat at night and over the steering wheel... can't get pissed, ITS A JEEP!

I usually kept a spare rain jacket in mine. I had to use it quite a few times, you should have seen some peoples faces

@inferno

I was just trying to quell any debates over whether or not a jeep is technically a convertible. Some say it is since the top comes off. Others say that word is reserved for automatic tops.

It's just semantics. I can see both sides off the debate. I was just trying to avoid comments like yours.

with what all gets on and in the lj during wheeling
trips, a little rain would probably do it some good.

It is like the first scratch. Its bound to happen sometime or another. That is unless you keep the hard top on all year like my pops.

Just remember to let your significant other that your jeep is drying out. I forgot and I am still hearing about it.

We have my Jeep & the hubby's Miata. It takes like 5 seconds to get his top up & 5 minutes to get mine up (if I'm putting all the windows back in). But I've been lucky enough not to get wet yet. It hardly rains in Texas these days.

I threw my quick cover on once before a heavy Florida rain and it tore. I had a good 2 inches on the floor. Just pull the plugs, leave the top down and park in the sun

Wet JK

I took the doors off my JK the second week I owned it and went to the outdoor store near me. It was a beautifull day, not a cloud in the sky...This was before I learned about South Dakota weather. 20 minutes in the store and I come out to a torrential downpour. 6inches of water running like a river down mainstreet. So I drove home in the monsoon, dried it out over the next couple days and no worse for wear. A few radio gremlins now and then but nothing I can't live with.
