flashlight mounts?

I want to mount my maglite in the cab of my TJ. I know I can buy the rings that mount to the roll bar, but honestly that seems a bit too expensive just to mount a flashlight.

Has anyone out there fabbed up a cool mount? How did you do it & please pictures always help.

Ebay has a velcro type. It loops the roll bar anywhere and then loops the flashlight. I put dead center overhead and it stay within easy reach. If I recall it was $10.00

I used the standard mag light mounts and screwed them to the floor next to the driver's seat.

I bought the nylon one from 4wd for $13 or so on sales, I guess it's $17 now:

Large Flashlight Holder by EK Motor Sports™ and Other Jeep Parts and Jeep Accessories by 4 Wheel Drive Hardware

Works as advertised, have it mounted vertically on the bar right behind the driver's seat. Easier to reach when outside the vehicle, but worried that it may disappear when the top's down.

I gave up on my maglite once I saw the light output of the new LED flashlights. Great light in a small package. I just keep a couple in the Jeep at all times, one in the center console and the other in the back.

Not a maglite - it's a rechargeable Streamlite Stinger. cord runs under console and plugs into accessory outlet so the flashlight is always charging when the Jeep is running.

To be honest I have a 5-6 D cell mag light (whatever the 2nd to largest one they make is) and I store it on the floor to the left of my driver seat. There is a little groove in my TJ that if you place it with the lense facing the rear of the jeep it fits in pretty nice and doesnt slide around at all.

I have that Maglite at home too. Doubles as a pretty hefty club.

Whatever you do don't but the plastic maglight holders. If you don't put it in straight or pull it out straight they snap. However if you've already installed them.....order some spares your gonna need them.

I made these myself..I went to a thrift store, bought a cloth belt with two "d-rings" on it for 50 cents, and then I cut the belt in half and then put a d-ring on each side and I sewed a ring onto each half of the belt, and then I sewed on some velcro patches to get the desired effect...total cost=$1.50

Ball end bungee cords around the rollbar. They hold securely and you can't get any cheaper. You can even color coordinate them with red, blue, and black jeeps.

Most reputable self-defense classes will teach a class or two on using the Maglite as a defensive weapon. Use them right and they are a formidable weapon.

An old thread with a still viable subject.

My rechargeable Maglite 3 cell flashlight comes with its own mount. Very handy and can be mounted just about anywhere.
