For All You AZ Wheelers

There's a very important meeting tomorrow afternoon to start the Land Managment Plan discussions with the BLM for the Florence Junction area. We are highly encouraging any of you that can make it to show up and show up wearing RED. If you care about 4Wheeling then you need to care about this LMP. This will dictate the trails we use in that area for the next 15-20 years.

The meeting is being held at the following address from 1-4 pm Saturday Feb. 25th.

Industrial Commission Building (Auditorium)
800 W. Washington St.
Phoenix, AZ 85007

We need numbers at this one folks. If we lose ground in the Table Mesa and Florence Junction area's then you might as well sell your jeep and buy an RC Racer or something. Get down there and show your support.

I probably won't be online anymore today. Remember we need your support and wear RED.

Damnit - I wish I could make it but I have a mandatory field trip tommorow.... ironically it's for my Environmental Biology class. Let me know how the meeting goes - I'd hate to lose FJ or Table Mesa; it's one of the few areas that doesnt get torn up too bad by rednecks and they're both absolutely stunning.

How did it go? I would have loved to be there, but it's a little far from Michigan to get there for just a day! I know that this affects us all accross the country though, I hope you had a good turnout!

If you have to ask what it is or what it does, you don't need it, and you will need help to install it!

Thanks for showing the interest fellas. No worries David. Some things take presadence over others and school is one of them.

The meeting turned out better than we expected. We had at final count 85 red shirts in the auditorium. We had people show up from Phoenix, Tucson, Heber, Payson, Flagstaff. All over the state.

This meeting was the beginning point of a Land Use plan that will be put in place for the Middle Gila area for the next 20 years. They are now in the initial planning stages and accepting comments until mid April. They will then put together their initial reports and alternatives late next year. The whole process after comment periods and public meetings will take upwards of 4-5 years to be fully completed. This weekends meeting let the new Field Director of the BLM here in town know that we are a valuable asset to them and that we will be involved heavily in this process. Patrick has been in the job about 6 mos. and this was his first meeting to attend so it was very good for our cause.

David, even though you weren't there you can definitely still be involved in the process. Log onto the BLM's website and find the land area for the Middle Gila. It stretches from Globe to Oracle to Florence. I know you have wheeled all over the state. Just put some comments on an email and send it to them for what you would like to see included in the LUP. Make sure to mention specific trails etc... Don't know if you ever wheeled them, but we are trying to get Jawbreaker back open also since there is some serious questionable acts that Francisco of the Tucson BLM office did to close that trail. I will take a look at my info and get back with you on the sites and the email addresses.

We need big support for this from Tucson also since as you have probably seen personally Tucson is a hotbed for Eco-Terrorists.

FWIW, I get regular USMail updates on a BLM project in another state ever since I e-mailed them my comments. Off-roaders from outside your state and immediate area can certainly support you. Being the custodian of public lands, the Gub'ment has to listen to everyone's opinion... we won't discuss how WELL they listen, though.

Is there a BLM website dedicated to this particular area? If so, please post the link here. I'm likely not the only one in this Forum who'd be willing to give 'em a Jeep wave ...
