Question For you doorless riders.

Last night I went to the movies and there were two other jeeps in the parking lot. The first one I came up to had the doors off, and the windows off. It was a rubicon I was kinda let down that It dident have a space open next to it.

I drove around to my usual spot in the back thats out of the way. Guess who was in my spot? ANOTHER WHITE JEEP! This guy was lifted and had the works done to it. I dident mind him in my spot because I got to park next to him. I wished he had been there so I could have talked to him about his jeep, maybe tell him bout WF.

Anyway to my question. How many go around and leave their jeep totally open with doors off and windows/top down? Arlington is full of yuppies but we do have lots of theft and kids who will do anything just to mess with your vehicle. I dont keep anything in my jeep and carry my stereo face plate with me when I lock up my jeep.

Normally I wouldent worry about it during the day and if I was just going in a place for afew mins, but this was at 12:00AM and at a movie theater. This rubicon had some real balls if you ask me.

I leave mine open all the time. The only thing to steal is candy in the center compartment and my airdowns, and a roll of shop towels in the back. Oh, and there's a screw driver in the glove box.

I figure if they want it that bad, they're going to take it whether it's locked or open.

I drive a Rubi and run just a safari top and no doors most of the summer in Omaha. I just don't keep anything in the Jeep that I care is stolen. Which is pretty much nothing. Running door less and topless makes it less prone to being messed up in my opinion. They can see that there is nothing to steel or mess with.

What they said...... You have to develop a "Soft top" mentality. Don't leave anying in it you care about loosing. If you absolutly have to leave valuables in it, get a tuffy trunk or something like it. The locks on my Jeep have never been used.

When it isn't raining, my doors and windows stay locked up in the garage. I'd just as soon not have them stolen...and I think they are happier to rest in there, as I have cable TV and a well stocked fridge in there!

Lucky DOORS! Once I get the mounts for my side mirrors I'll start riding with my doors off more. Right now I have no mounts so cant legally drive without the doors. =(

I too leave mine stripped down all summer. Like everyone else said I try not to leave anything too valuable in the jeep, and if there is somthing I lock it in the glove box or console ( and I know, anyone could pick those locks ) but all they will gain is a pair of oakleys and some tools. I am thinking of getting a system and trying to figure out the best way to secure amps, subs, etc. ????

I bought my Jeep from a cop, and he told me all you have to have is a mirror you can see 150' with, and the rear view does that. (I do use the mirror movers though)

Mhm always thought you had to have at least the driver side one. They look better with the side mirrors anyway.

I'll have to look in to it later.

I was told by a cop friend of mine that ( at least in Ga) all you have to have is one rearveiw mirror. I have never had any issues or been pulled over ( for lack of mirrors).

If a thief wants in your vehicle it doesn't matter if it's a softtop or hardtop of any kind of vehicle.
door locks only keep an honest person out.

I go all over the place with the doors off and the top down. I actually saw some teenager looking at mine the other day in my town. At first I thought he was attempting to steal the whole 8 quarters I had in the tray but he was actually interested in getting a Wrangler. I told him it was awesome, lol believe me his girlfriend was smoking...should have taken her for a ride

Yea, iv noticed a lot of people want a wrangler but never really go and attempt to look at them. The tech who came out to work on my cable was really interested in it. He wanted to bling it out and asked me if it was "hard to keep clean because of it being white?"

I said "why would you want too?"

Anyway hopefully this security thing I got going on will sooner or later go away. Iv only had mine for couple months now.

I learned the hard way. Left mine locked up and came back to a sliced window. From that point on I leave everything unlocked and there are no valuables in teh vehicle. I even leave the upper door halves in the jeep in case rain comes. If they want those old ruined things its all theirs.

I never leave anything in mine that I wouldn't want stolen. I figure if they want it bad enough they'll get it and the more barriers you put between the thief and what they want to steal is what you'll have to replace. I'd rather them reach right in and steal it than slice a window or pry a console open. As far as I'm concerned if it's in my Jeep you might as well just take it.

I go all summer with no top and no doors and like everyone else said, do leave anything valuable in the jeep. Theres so much crap in my console that a theif would get tired of digging before he found anything good.

I never lock my doors, and if the top is down, its down regardless of where I am. If the doors are off, they stay off till I need them on again. I really have nothing of value in the jeep, so its all good.

Funny story tho, I had my doors off and top down and went to the movies with the gf. When we came out, someone had buckled a bag of popcorn in the driver seat. I cracked up a good bit. None of my friends ever have claimed it, so I guess it was some random person, and that, to me, is even funnier.

Is a CB something considered "of value"? I would like to take my top & doors off and figure the only 'mods' of value I'll have on the inside is a CB, so I can ride with some clubs.. and maybe seat covers.

I suppose it depends on how much you spent on it and if you can replace it my CB disconnects easily - so it's only in the Jeep for trail rides

I leave my CB in all the time. I realize it might get stolen but oh well!

If anyone wants it my Jeep is parked in my driveway right now.
