ford 8.8 rear

my cousin has a 2000 cherokee rear end is on its way out i have a ford 8.8 rear with 3:55 gears from my mustang laying around any chance it will fit in his jeep? thanks

I might be totally wrong on this, but I thought the mustang axle was wider than the the 8.8 out of an Ford Exploder. So ya may need to take some actual measurements.

The explorer 8.8 that everyone recommends is 59.625" wide.

You would have to check the mustangs spline count because is it really worthwhile to swap from the dana 35 with 27 spline axles to the ford 8.8 with 28 spline axles.

Either way, you will need to weld some brackets on that will make it fit into the jeep.
