Four Wheel Drive question

Hello once again everybody,

question about the 4 wheel drive.

so, I was playing with my new-to-me 1999 jeep yesterday, just trying to make sure everything works.... I noticed that when i engaged the 4 wheel drive, whether it be hi or lo, the little light doesnt come on. I never actually put the vehicle in gear, because i dont know how to test the 4 wheel on pavement, so I'm not sure if thats why the light didnt come on or not.

Any thoughts,

J

also, on my jeep there is a little orange "up" arrow light right next to where the 4x4 lindicator lights are, and that little light comes on when its time to change gears, so im pretty sure im not dealing with a blown light.

Were you rolling when you pulled the lever to 4 HI? Once it shifts into 4 wheel the light usually lights up. It is ok to test it out on dry pavement just don't make any sharp/fast turns as it tries to grab harder in turns. If you try 4 LO remember to take it slow! The gears in 4 LO don't need much skinny pedal

Yup, turning the wheel on dry pavement in 4wd will definitely let you know if it's working.
