From TJ to XJ?

Hey everyone. Lately I've been toying around with the idea of trading my 99 TJ for a 4wd late model XJ.(97-01). I know my TJ is going to be worth more and I'd only do it if it were a low mile near stock (with a sunroof!) Only reasoning for this is I have a family and the 4 doors would be nice. Im also very familiar with the TJ suspension and the 4.0. Anyone ever done this or have any input? Just curious. Or maybe I'm insane

Might as well trade the tj in for a used jku at the dealer if you want four doors

Thought about that option but I'm not too much of a fan of the JKU, nor do I really want another car payment.

That and I don't know, I'm a little drawn to the body style of the xj

You and me both, before I bought my 06 TJ I was looking at getting an XJ because they're just sexy!

Same here. My plan was to find an XJ, but I found a TJ that I couldn't say no to. XJ's can be VERY capable offroad + all the extra room.

Aside from rust, you'd be amazed at how much you can beat the hell out of a $1000 XJ and still drive it home. Guy I used to wheel with and it just refused to die. Best bang for your buck budget crawler by far

If it can't be fixed with squats or fish oil...your probably gonna die (u aware?)

I've owned two XJ's and if you et anywhere near the service I did, you will be very satisfied. XJ's have a very good look if done right!

We've probably all seen it, but it's worth watching again. This guy beats the hell out of a mostly stock XJ. I had one, it was a good rig. Bone stock, but still a good rig. The only Jeep i'll own other than a YJ is an XJ.

XJ's rock. The only reason I have a JKU is because they had quit making XJ's when my 2001 XJ died in 2009. If they still made them, I'd be over on some XJ forum right now. I sometimes fantasize about buying a new old stock XJ that has just been sitting there forgotten in some farmer's pole barn... Jeep porn.

If I had won the lottery one of the first things I would love to do is take the JK drive train and drop it into an XJ. Hell maybe even some gadgets to guarantee it'd be a better utilitarian work horse than the new ones

Exactly. And he probably drove it home and then out to run errand the rest of the week. Been trying hard to get my younger brother into one instead of a lancer or whatever econobox 'racecar' he wants
