Question Front bumper choices

I'm looking for a bumper to replace ma little stock slab of metal. I like the idea/look of a stinger, I'm not sure how well they work but it would definitely make me feel better coming down from steep obstacles.

I don't want to spend more that 250 with shipping.

Do you guys think this will give me enough protection? Ill have tons of clearance but are my fenders at risk? Rough Country stinger And here's what it looks like on a Jeep: Stinger on Jeeps

I was also considering this one: Trail Gear Bumper I'm not sure if you can add a winch later on with this one though.

These first two look good and have a really good price, this one has a pretty good price too, kinda a lot for shipping, but its a nice bumper. It kills two birds with one stone with the skid plate, looks like it protects the steering box as well: Four Real Steel

What I really want is to be able to mount a winch later on, and have good protection. I know my price range really limits things though. Anyone have any suggestions?

I run the RRC bumper. It's a bit outside of your price range ($299 shipped on e-bay). If you are patient, sometimes they show up on e-bay for less. I like the added fender protection and it's saved my fenders more than once. It mostly just comes down to personal preference. Tiny got one from a fab shop off of e-bay pretty cheap, check it out over in the "What did you do..." thread.

Here's mine:

Yeah its a pretty nice bumper, I had it on my 97. I don't want to get the same one this time. They are selling those and all other smittybilt products 20% off at 4wheelparts.

BTW nice Jeep unlimited, I like the finish your bumper has on it, mine had a more grey-ish finish that was supposed to be black and chipped and flaked off pretty easily.

Thanks. I use Krylon black hammered finish. I like the hammer finish because you can do touch ups and the scratches, etc... just blend in.

The Trail-Gear bumper is pretty much a replica of the Fab-Tech one. You'll need a winch plate to mount a winch as it does not have one built in.

That is not part of the bumper. It (they) are the receivers for my tow bar. they mount directly to the frame. I flat tow my Jeep behind my motor home.

I'm in the process of fabracating a guard that will slide into them and also act as a steering box guard.

This is a SICK front bumper from Sniper Fab. The price is right also at 225 for a bumper and integrated winch plate.

Ooops! I just saw this. I'm not ready to get rid of it just yet. I have a few other projects to get out of the way before I start spending money on the Jeep again. When I'm ready, and if you're still interested, I'll let you know how much. It won't be any time real soon though...

Yeah, the only downfall of the Sniper is that is comes in pieces and has to be welded together on your own, but it's easy work and they all fit right.

Are either of you worried about the lack of protection for your fenders?
