Full body off tub rub

how hard and involved is it? Im looking to take the tub off and get the as much rust off of everything that I can come spring/warmth.

What problems should I expect?
What materials?
What will I need overall?

Any and all help is appreciated!

TIA

we pulled the tub off on my 79 CJ5...along with everything else. it wasn't hard at all. we started by pulling EVERYTHING from the interior. then started disconnecting everything that attaches from the inside of the tub to the engine bay (steering column, wiring harnesses, throttle, brake, clutch, etc.). then removed the body mount bolts, diconnected fuel filler lines, and taillights. after that, it's a matter of whatever you have around to lift the body off....hoist, couple friends.....we used a loader .

it's really not as difficult as it would seem, just take your time and note where everything goes/went. it should only require basic hand tools to pull everything apart.

How far do you want to get it off the frame ? You can generally lift the body off the frame of a TJ or YJ about 4" before you start ripping cables. Thats usually plenty of room to get at the top of the frame rails to clean, prime and paint them.
