we pulled the tub off on my 79 CJ5...along with everything else. it wasn't hard at all. we started by pulling EVERYTHING from the interior. then started disconnecting everything that attaches from the inside of the tub to the engine bay (steering column, wiring harnesses, throttle, brake, clutch, etc.). then removed the body mount bolts, diconnected fuel filler lines, and taillights. after that, it's a matter of whatever you have around to lift the body off....hoist, couple friends.....we used a loader
it's really not as difficult as it would seem, just take your time and note where everything goes/went. it should only require basic hand tools to pull everything apart.
