Gas gauge doesn'

I'm looking for some advice on fixing a non-working gas guage. I just bought a 93 wrangler and the gas gauge doesn't work. Once in a while, if I fill up the tank completely it will say that it is full, but if it is not completely full it always just sits on empty. Anyone out there have any suggestions? Thanks

First off... Tj Bunch... I appreciate the help... I have two problems and you answered them both... Thanks... second off... a bad sending unit? How much of a project is it to fix it? I'm assuming I may be better off just counting the miles... The problem is my speedo and odometer dont work.. hah... which you addressed yesterday... can you give me some background or point me in the right direction to how I can figure out how to change the sending unit? Thanks again

I know on the TJ there are skid plates I have not taken mine down so not sure how big a job that is the tank needs to come out so use as much fuel as you can makes it lighter then unhook the filler and any wires to sender then there will be a ring on top of tank that you need to unscrew kida cam lock, pull sensor and F/Pump module out drop in a new one and replace everything and your done. above all take your time, The shop will probly want around $2-3 hundered to change out. at least Chevy pickups thats what we get. $810.00 Parts and labor.

A quick search shows this http://www.jeep4x4center.com/jeep-wr...fuel-pumps.htm

That price seems reasnoable to me but i only have GM Experiance and some senders are twice that with no pump.

I just fixed mine, it was a simple fix but removing and replacing the tank sucked bigtime.
Definitely empty the tank first.
