gear questions. need help

i dont know where to put this as it crosses several categories. but i need to know if the carriers out of a 2002 tj would fit in a 94 yj assuming both are running d30/35. i know some things changed with the axle did anything change with the carriers and gears.

and just by looking at the carriers and gears is there anyway to tell if it is a d35 or d44?

thank you for your time

The carriers fit. Don't use the ring and pinion though. They aren't. high pinion vs low pinion.

To tell what rear axle you have, 35's look like a nice oval. 44's have kind of a bump on the right side and are bigger. Search on google "Dana 44 pics" and you can compare it to what's on your Jeep.

EDIT: I'm sure you already know but I'll say it anyway. The carries have to be d30-d30 or 44-44, no mixing a d35 carrier into a d44, etc.

D35s have the rubber plug for filling and checking fluid level, that's also another way to tell.
