Gearheads: Let's discuss air filters.

In particular, this one: aFe 31-80155 - aFe Pro Dry Power Air Filter for 07-10 Jeep® Wrangler & Wrangler Unlimited JK with 3.8L V6 Engine - Quadratec

So, what are your thoughts on it?

I think it's interesting that they shaped it the way they did. I'm curious as to whether this added or subtracted filter surface area. The general rule is more surface area = more air entering the engine. The raised shape of the filter media makes me think it's better for airflow in the factory box than a flat filter would be, judging by where the inlet tube attaches to the airbox. I've read some pretty good things about this filter, but no long term data on how much dirt it lets past.
Anybody try one of these yet?

NOPE, sorry, but I don't trust any wash/reuse filters--especially one that costs $60 bucks

I use $13 dollar FRAM filters, HPair blowem out once and replace PT#10348

The 3.8L Chrysler "NASCAR" engine is designed with certain inlet/outflo restrictions for optimum ops and trying to get BETTER performance (without turbo/supercharger) is relatively--USLESS !!
