General model year question

I have a friend that is looking to buy a jeep, is there a model year that he should stay away from?

I read somewhere that the '10 models had some sort of recall recently for potential fire hazards. It was only the automatic transmissions though.

yup, one of the skid plates collects debris and creates a potential fire hazard, but a dealer should be able to take the jeep and replace the skid plate with a skid bar for no charge, problem solved

(you should get a manual anyway)

Pretty sure that the 00 and 01 years with 4.0's had trouble with the heads cracking. Having said that, I just bought an 01.

I have been reading some of the posts lately about the head issues with the 00' and 01' 4.0, and I just wonder how common it is? I don't recall hearing any of this when I bought my 2000 Sport four years ago. It had 91k on it when I bought it, and it now has 144k, still with no head problems.
