I am getting a new (old) axle with 4.10 ratio front dana 30. Is it recommended to put on new wheel bearings, ball joints, brakes etc..... I'm sure the easy answer is - yea if they need to e replaced!! But was just wondering if its standard to switch out all these parts while they are as easily accessible as they ever will be! Thoughts? Experience? Thanks!
Personally, I'd upgrade the u-joints in the axles esp if you're taking it off road or running large tires. If you have it out and there's play in the Ball Joints replace them, tires are expensive!
If it were me, I'd go through it completely...upgrade everything I could. Truss, sleeves, gussets, chromo or RCV's. ESPECIALLY if you're gonna wheel it. But that me.

Since your jeep profile is not setup I cant tell what kind of jeep you have, but that axle you have has a vacuum disconnect on it. Meaning the long side of the axle has two shafts instead of one which can connect and disconnect when given pressure. If your jeep is not setup for vacuum disconnect you have setup a cable system to lock and unlock the shafts or do a single axle conversion.
If unlocked, the front axle will be useless in 4WD mode.
