Got a good deal on a 97 Sport, I think.

Bought a TJ at a large mazda dealer last week. 97 Sport, no A/C, Hardtop, 6 cyc, 5 speed. 96000 miles. Window Price $8900, internet price $7900, emailed sales person "buy it today price $7000. Price I got at the dealer $6500 + installed CD player and towing hitch, and they ordered a new outside mirror (too loose for interstate speeds), parking break (chewed up handle) and new glove box handle. Also, 5 new tires (still have little rubber digits) goodyear wranglers.

Actually they were pretty quick. He said $7000, I said $6000, He said $6500, I said install a hitch and radio and fix all the little broken parts and he said ok. It was a recent trade in, I'm sure they only game the guy like $4500-$5000, so they still made a little.

You absolutely have to prepare yourself to haggle. Car dealers...ALL OF THEM...will take as much of your money as possible. the price they tell you first/advertise is simpily what they hope someone will pay, like in their best dreams. I bought a truck once, salesman said it was $7500. I offered $5000 cash. Guy went to talk to the manager, came back and asked if I could take it home today.
