Hail coming today and protecting the Jeep

The weather guy is predicting storms this evening with the main threat being large hail. A storm like this messed up the roof of my house a few years ago. My garage won't hold all my vehicles - one needs to be left outdoors, and I'm thinking maybe the softop Jeep would make more sense than the GMC pickup or the Cruze. The Cruze needed $500 worth of hail repairs after a storm, mostly to the roof and hood.

Anybody have some tips for protecting against hail damage when you can't get undercover? Laugh if you want, but I was thinking about buying some bubble wrap and duct tape. The vertical windshield & sides would seem to be less vulnerable to me compared to the other vehicles. I could cover the hood with bubble wrap and cross my fingers.

Get yourself a car cover for your jeep and put foam childrens wake boards under it on your hood. Cheap and effective.

set the jeep on fire to melt the hail before it hits the jeep.

If your Cruze already has a damage history, leave it out.
It has already been devalued.

You could go purchase a large thick tarp and some rope and setup a makeshift shelter. That would probably work unless it is baseball or softball sized hail and then you'll need to pull it under something a little more sturdy.

This, or like some other people have said, a large, heavy duty tarp with a couple of comforters, or several layers of quilt padding underneith it.

Tarp to keep it dry, padding to protect it.

I've...knock on wood....sucessfully weathered several hail storms w/o damage by putting layers of cardboard boxes over the top, windshield, hood, and windows and then covering with a tarp. Cheap and quick to set up.

Thanks for the replies. Turns out I'll be able to use the garage in the empty house across the street. I like the idea about the foam wakeboards but I won't need them this time.

I got home this evening to find my DD and my brand new roof beat all to hell. My jeep was safe in the garage.
