Hard Top Bolt Thread Size

Can anyone tell me what size thread the bolts that hold the hard top to the body are? Is the size metric?

I wanted to get a set of the quick release type like those sold at Quadratech but am having a hard time believing they couldn't be found for a lot less than $35.00. In searching around in just a few minutes on the internet, I see many listed for $2 - $3 each and they come in many variations.

I'm not sure but I think they are a M16 metric thread size fine, at least that's what I'd read before and saved but I haven't gone shopping for any. If you find any please share.

Just remove one, take it up to Home Depot, try screwing various size nuts onto it until you find the one that fits. Then you'll at least know the thread size and you can Google search for a quick release type.

If you'll hang on a couple of hours I'm going to Home Depot later this evening. I have the Quadratec ones on mine and if I can find the box where I put the originals I'll take one up there and find the correct thread size.

I can and will do that. I just thought that if it was something someone knew off the top of their head and could advise without having to make a trip to HD, that would be beneficial. I appreciate your assistance.

Okay, I just got back from the Depot. I found my originals and took one with me. The thread size for the hard top securing bolts, at least on a 2013, is M8 x 1.25.

RoadiJeff,

Thank you for your extra effort! Another on a different forum came back with the same sizing. Now I can make a serious search for the exact item. I have seen many varieties but, without the correct size, could not tell if it was an option.

Again, thanks for your help. You saved me a trip to HD. I'll post my findings in case others would like some options to the Torx screws.

I found these at Cool Tech for a good price - $20.00 - and am pretty certain this is the route I'm going:

Cool Tech LLC. Hardtop Quick Disconnect T-Bolts

I'm thinking about ordering those. Better than the others I have priced. Thanks!
