has the "wave" died??!!

I scored my 2007 4-door Jeep Wrangler on Friday, and one of the things I looked most forward to was getting out and waving to all the other Wranglers again (I owned a brand new '93 YJ that I traded in in 1995).

But I've noticed that the other Wrangler drivers I've seen to date either have no clue I'm waving to them, or look at me like I have a big hairy mole on my nose, everything but wave.. Is it because I'm driving a 4-door Wrangler? Or is it because it's 15 years later now and I look old? Someone clue me in here please!

Only time I wave is to a modded Jeep, other then that, if I get a wave first, Ill wave back. I hate being left looking like a retard. Congrates on the new Jeep

Each to his own.

I guess I look like a retard, I wave at all the Wranglers I see.

Richard

I actually remember seeing so many Wranglers when I had my '93 that I pretty much left my hand at the top of the wheel all the time with the fingers extended! Now, I get the reaction I mentioned earlier.

On a brighter note, I have posted pics of my YJ and some other friends' Jeeps from over the years at my home site. You can view them all at the below link:

please explain why its lame. you enjoy a bunch of yuppies looking at you like you have 3 heads? I dont. like I stated, I only wave to modded Jeeps in which the owners are more dedicated to wave because they dont see their Jeep as a "car" to go to work and back.

Notherone, to answer your question, there are a lot of yuppies driving wranglers now, because it's cool or cute. They have no idea that there is a brother/sisterhood involved. They are not jeep people. But, there are still some of us out there. I wave at every wrangler I see. If they don't wave back or look at me like I have an extra head or two, oh well. There is one jeep that lives down the street from me. Every time I pass it, I wave at the driver. Usually, with no results. Yesterday, she waved first, with a great big grin on her face. I was so proud. She'd seen the light. There is still hope.

I wave at all the Wranglers i see too. I noticed though that if a female is driving a wrangler she will not wave, or even notice another wrangler on the road. Whats up with that Ladies.:-) At least the guys wave ... Young or Old.

It didn't happen this time around, but I'm pretty sure when I bought my '93 even the dealer told me that owners wave to one another. I remember that specifically because I traded in an '81 Vette to get my YJ, and the Vette owners used to wave too (don't know if they do now or not though).

I wave to them all, and get about a 50% return rate. Some even wave back with a confused look on their face.

I wave at the Jeep, not to the driver. It's not as disappointing.

I think if I see ANY jeep over here I'll probably do more than just wave. I'll follow em home and educate them on the importance of owning a jeep and their responsibilities as a jeep owner. and then swap jeep stories.
I've seen one jeep in the 2 months I've been here and that is because he is military also and he asked me to come over and check his jeep out and offer advice on fixing his.

Wow, the UK is really missing out!!

I showed my newly-acquired 4-door to another friend tonight who was a prior Jeep owner, and as he looked it over I could see the gears turning in his head I can smell a new purchase coming!
