Haunted Headlights turn on by themselves

Greetings All,
I'm knew to WF and have been a Wrangler owner for 18 months now.

I've got a 2004 Sahara that is haunted.

The headlights turn on by themselves, even though the switch is off. I'll park it, and come back to them on, or a dead battery. It seems to happen mostly in the summer or when the engine is warmed up, thus possibly heat sensitive.
If I turn the ignition key (but not turn on the engine), it will turn off the headlights (I'll hear a clicking).

Any ideas on the cause? My first thought is a relay?

Welcome to WF start with the relay first. Change it out or swap it with another. Then go from there. It might be in the switch. Does it feel sloppy?

My money is on one of two things.

#1 Your Jeep thinks it is Canadian and wants daytime running lights.

#2 Your multifunction light switch is on the way out which usually causes issues with the fog lights first but it could cause issues with the headlights and it is a common TJ issue.

If I had to guess between the two I would lean more towards the switch needing to be replaced since there isnt any reason that your Jeep would want to be Canadian since universal health care wouldnt help it at all.
