Having starter problems on 97 wrangler

I just installed a brand new starter on my wrangler after it not starting for a while, but now the problem seems to be that the starter wont go back in... and keeps running even after the car is started. You can even hear the coonstant winding of the starter, and i can only stop it by pulling the battery terminal. Im wondering if the problem lies somewhere along the ignition or missing teeth in the fan belt. PLease Help, i can drive or move the car until it's fixed ha
