Headlight bezzel painting

I want to paint the bezzels but don't know of I have to sand them before I paint them and can't decide wether or not to use gloss and a clear coat. P. O also got some paint on them when they painted the grill. Red 94yj

I didn't know if I'd like the bezels black (I have a white Sahara and was afraid of the panda look) so not to ruin the bezels I didn't sand them. Painted with gloss black and its held up perfectly for a year now.

I even did a dry run first. I covered them with electrical tape and stared at them for an hour...

I used a satin finish and really like it, I sanded mine lightly with a fine grit paper. The sanding helps the new paint to stick, you don't have to sand but it will help, make sure you clean them well after, I wiped them down with rubbing alcohol too just to make sure

Well anytime you pain something always smart to rough up the surface to get the pain to stick properly. And on mine I used the spray in bed liner in a paint can. Turned out great, and almost can mess this paint up washing off road or putting it on.

bedlining is the way to go, i will redo mine instead of black with bedliner in a few weeks. I only did one coat of black, just used rubbing alcohal and painted. got one little scrape but I like them painted. i would black then clear coat.if you already painted them once then yes sand.
