Exclamation HELP!!!! 2000 Jeep wrangler!

2000 jeep wrangler Sahara
Auto trans
135,000 miles

Just bought my 2000 wrangler maybe 2 months ago and it started by dying at a stop sign, the cranked right up and I went on my way. Same day about 30 mins later it died at another stop sign, cranked, but would not turn over for a good 5 mins. The jeep drove perfectly normal after that for about 2-3 weeks then died when i was driving (no sputter, just died) then it would not turn over for a good 30 mins, then once again drove fine for 2-3 weeks. I went to start it last week and it would not turn over in my driveway, I waited 15 mins and tried it again and it started fine, then drove it and it stalled out 10 mins after that! but it started right back up and drove fine for a week or two which brings me to today. It stalled out while I was driving on a main road and totally blocked traffic, I cranked and it would not turn over and tried that for about 15 mins (on and off). Then I got out and opened my hood and then tried it again and it started right up and drove it home. I took it to Big O Tires the 3rd time it happened and they ran some tests and could not figure anything out. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT by the way on any of the stalls. Help me out with some ideas please? Crankshaft Position Sensor is what I'm leaning towards.

Good call. Crank sensor is where I'd start. When you say won't turn over, do you mean it's dead? No cranking at all?

By chance does it have an alarm system?

It's cranking completely normal just the engine will not turn over. The mechanic I talked to was concerned it might be a alarm system malfunction but I'm pretty sure It does not have an anti theft system inless all jeeps have them and I don't know about it. The anti theft light never lights up on my dash.

Well I have the OEM CPS on order already so I'm crossing my fingers it won't break down till it arrives, then maybe that will fix the issue.

Usually a malfunctioning alarm sytem will lock it out totally. Meaning it won't even crank over. I'd say the the 2000 Wranglers didn't have a factory alarm system as standard equipment.

Someone else mentioned the ASD relay also known as the automatic shutdown relay could be malfunctioning.
