Hi everyone! My name is Coral and I live in upstate new York. I've had a 2007 mustang for the past 5 years and I've been thinking of getting a Sahara wrangler in white, the arctic edition. Have any of you switched from fast cars to wranglers? Does anyone regret it? I'm so nervous to trade my baby in, the more I think about getting rid of it the more nervous I get that I'm going to hate the wrangler bc it's slower, and bigger, and more hands on to remove the top (as opposed to pushing the button for a sunroof) please help. Any comments are welcome! I'm getting very close to signing the papers.

I have to ask is your mustang a GT or the v6. If it is the v6 and you are going to by a 2012 jeep, the jeep may surprise you. Stop light to stop light may be very similar, around corners is a hole different story. I have nothing else to add, because I kept the Camaro when I bought the jeep.

I've had 4 Mustangs. 2 '65's, a '67, and a 2000. All of them were v8s and I loved every one of them. I've only had 1 Wrangler. If anything ever happens to it, my next ride will be... A WRANGLER. The jeep is a different kind of fun, but I enjoy it even more than my 'Stangs As an added bonus, I haven't gotten a single speeding ticket since I bought mine a year and a half ago. That may be the longest stretch in the last 10 years (had a Festiva back then for a very short and painful while:hide:)

@tokkie: I have a gt. I was looking at camaros too! I wish I could afford to keep the mustang and get the wrangler. I'm worried I'm going to get the jeep and really miss the mustang so much that I go back to it and lose a lot of $$$$ during the switch. So stressful

I'll try to help you out and make it easy for you: If they are not giving you enough for your Mustang (trade in value), then KEEP it, but definitely buy the Jeep! Anyone who owns one will probably tell you the same! :)

One of my favorite cars I had ever owned was my 2006 Mustang GT (gun metal grey with the Red & Black interior)! Gorgeous car! Still miss it from time to time!

That being said: (like others have said): a Wrangler is a whole "other" kind of fun! And usually once you own one, you will always want one? Specially if your an "outdoorsy type"?

Good Luck!

I dunno, if you really love the speed stick with the mustang. My buddy has a mustang and thinks he's the shit, and I have a jeep and think the same :p. They're not comparable except they're both impracticle and fun. He likes to open up on the highway, i go 65 and enjoy the drive with no roof. He won't drive it in the winter, mines all year round and pounds through all the crap I run it through. The wrangler is def. a more all around awesome car where as the mustang is more specific to speed and sporty fun. You sound like you'd like a mustang more than a jeep. If you ever do get a jeep please take it offroad at least once then you'd understand why it's such a sweet ride

I have never had a sports car, more of an SUV kinda guy. But I love being able to have the doors and top off, feels great. All of my friends always wanna take my car when we go anywhere. Even my brother who has a pretty quick Mazda always asks to drive my jeep whenever I am home. But the mod bug really does bite hard lol I have a Mojave so it came a little bit better than a stock one but I am always dreaming about what I am going to do next and cant wait for my 32 inch mud terrains to run down so I can get some bigger tires  also, everyone on this forum is super nice and helpful with any questions! hope I helped :thumb:

Don't forget that 285 HP in a Wrangler is not the same as in a Mustang let's say (Before the Jeep I had similar HP in a Caddy). It is still enough to teach a random Civic a lesson about curteous driving. What I like about the Wrangler is that it gives a nice solid ride making speed(ing) a bit irrelevant. There is plenty of headroom if you find removing the top too cumbersome.

Get a Jeep and a motorcyle. Motorcycle is cheaper, better mileage, there is a greater fun factor than the stang, and not to mention faster than the stang. I own both: 83 cj7, tj rubi, and r6.

After getting my Jeep I thought about getting a Mustang and brought the subject up with my Girlfriend. Her answer ended the debate, "If you sell your Jeep." The thought hasn't crossed my mind since.

Going from a go fast to a Jeep is worthwhile in my opinion. The Jeep keeps you legal, goes anywhere and is more fun overall. Of course I'm spoiled, my work car's a charger :D

I was recently torn from my 2005 STi when some asshole hit me from behind and totaled it 3.5 weeks ago. I'd had my eye on a Jeep for some time and now I'm getting one.

I don't regret getting the Jeep, as the decision was made for me, but I do regret that I wasn't able to make that decision myself. I had already reserved myself to the fact I was going to have to get rid of the STi if I'd wanted a Jeep, but I just wasn't ready to do so...

Just before the wreck my wife and I were talking about the STi and how much I really liked it and I just mentioned, "as much as I want a Jeep, I just can't part with this car for one right now." 10 minutes later, I didn't have to worry about whether I'd have buyer's remorse.

Anyway, that being said, I severely miss my STi but I'm hoping to fill that void with the Jeep in terms of the fun-factor. No, it won't do 0-60 in under 5 seconds, nor will it hang a corner and zip down back roads, but it will lead me a lot of places I've never been.

That being said, if you're a total Muscle Car fan and have the constant need for speed, you're probably going to regret getting your Mustang for a Jeep. I, on the other hand, also own a 1994 Camaro with quite a bit of work done to it, so I still have that Muscle Car "thrill" available to me.

As much as I'm sure I will love my Jeep, there's no way in Hell I could live without something fast, too.

Despite my misfortunes, to say I'm excited about getting a new Jeep is an understatement. It'll be a lot of top-down fun and trips to basically wherever I wanna go. I'll also have the advantages of having more room for myself, passengers, cargo, and it'll overall just fit my needs better than what the STi did. After I get the Jeep, I may just find I enjoy "Jeeping" more than I ever enjoyed the STi...but we'll have to see.

Nobody here can really tell you whether or not you're going to like a Jeep more than your Mustang. You're going to have to make those decisions for yourself.

Everyone has been so nice and helpful with their answers. Thank you everyone! I'm still stuck. I feel the same way you did with the sti, I'm not sure if I'm ready to part with my mustang yet.. I have a few days to think about it. I'm feeling more and more apprehensive as the time comes unfortunately.

I'm never done shopping for my next vehicle, even after I buy one. I already have my eye on a Charger; maybe a 3rd generation of the "new" Charger, because it won't be for a while.

Just some vehicles that were possible replacements for the STi prior to anything happening...

2012 Dodge Charger R/T "Track"

2012 Ford Mustang GT

2012 Nissan 370Z

2012 Subaru Impreza WRX STI Hatchback

2012 Subaru Legacy GT

2012 Ford F150 or F250 Crew Cab

2012 Volkswagen Golf R32

I went from a 2010 Camaro to my 2003 Wrangler. It was the best decision I ever made. My Camaro was neat, but I enjoyed looking at it much more than driving it. Jeep is still good to look at, but is also major jun to drive. I also never really bonded with my Camaro. My Jeep and I were best buds almost instantly.

Can't blame ya at all for that. No offense but the new Camaros are steaming piles of...shit. That ain't to say my '94 isn't, but at least it wasn't trying to be something it wasn't. :whistling:

FWIW, I hated that new Camaro ever since I saw the concept.

Ha, I am in the same boat. I love the Camaro, but I really don't enjoy driving it...other than in a straight line(feels like I'm in a superfast tank though).

I can't believe it, but I love the Mustang, I might get my wife one, or a WRX when the new one comes out.

But the Jeep is all mine!
