Help need a price for 1970 cj5

Need help in what you think the price should be for a 1970 cj5. This is the description I got from the owner.

"over $7000 into it. The engine, trans and t-case are rebuilt, off frame restoration, new tires, rims, fuel tank, radiator, hoses, belts, dash gauges, brakes, u-joints and painted Dodge Viper purple. He wants to move so he may sell for a loss. "

the engine is a chevy v-6 the size I do not know. I have seen a pic and it looks very clean...........he whats me to make him an offer..........HELP..,,,,,

Treat it like any other used vehicle. Go look at it, not just a picture. Check out Kelly Blue Book, Edmunds.com, etc, and see what they are going for in your area. I would also, before making any offers, test drive it and take to a mechanic that knows jeeps and have them look it over.

People who restore a Jeep or any car for that matter most times put way more in than they ever will see back on it. And it still depends on what someone is willing to pay for it. Jeeps hold their value well but it isnt a 1970 big block Corvette. You probly wont find anything to compare it to price wise. Follow bbtj's advice, go look at it, drive it and have a mechanic look at it. If you like it buy it, your the only one that has to be happy. Personally I dont like the short wheel base and the small door opening of a 5 but it may suit you. I would start at $5K maybe and see what happens.

Good luck and post some pics.

I believe from about 65 or 66 through 71 jeeps were available with a v6 engine that kaiser had bought from buick..it was a 225 inch and I liked it..I recently sold a 71 that had not been stripped and rebuilt but did run very good and the body was in good condition with new od paint job for $2200..no doubt it was well worth that and the buyer was very happy

Yeah and I forgot to mention the Buick engine if it looks stock. Seems like the Buick version was called the "odd fire v6" Good call Harley.
