so, im in the market for a jeep (my first!!!). very exciting. i test drove one today and really likes it. its a '98 4x4, auto, black, hard top, missing back seat, which i don't need, 83k miles, 4 cylinder, and custom rims.
the only thing is that the check engine light is on, the seller claims that the light just went on tonight and that it is a $40 wire that needs to be replaced. he says he knows a mechanich that can look at it. and the wheels are oversized, so the steering wheel is not at the right angles, it doesnt rub the metal when you turn, i made a pretty sharp turn and nothing rubbed.
cosmetic-wise, its in really good shape, it seems to run well, but obviously from this posting i don't know too much about cars..... hes selling it to me for $5,500. is that a good deal???
Don't get me wrong here,I'm not bagging on the 4 cyl at all,I would be concerned that the seller knows it a 40$ part but then throws in taking it to a mechanic to look at it as well.If he knows exactly what the part costs,he then knows exactly what the part is.Why don't he just say the (something) is out of it?Buyer beware.
On a side note,I have lots and lots of wires I will sell for 40 bucks a chunk..............
