Hey guys looking at 2 used jeeps, what do you guys think?

Hey I am new to jeeps and looking to buy a used one, i plan on putting on 35 in tires on and doing an lifts if they havnt been done yet. The first jeep im looking at is a 95 wrangler sahara it has a brand new 4 in suspension lift on it less then 200 miles ago new stabilizer shock ,new windsheild new inner tie rods new head lights ,new crowl seal ,water pump and timing chain was done about 7 months ago the underneath was all brushed down and undercoated along with the interior of the tub as well the frame ids coated in rhino liner along with front and rear bumpers the interior is black thats everything from the carpet to dash to seatcovers the truck has 131,000 miles on it 31 in tires and a fairly new besttop soft top also has slider wimdows . the only problem with the truck is the vacuum pump for the 4x4 went so that needs to be replaced very easy job and costs 60$ online. This jeep is 4,250.
Then the second jeep is a 1990 with a rebuilt trans at 180,000 and rebuilt motor at 120,000. Over all the jeep has 200,000 miles. and has a new clutch. 6 inch lift with new 35 inch tires. For 4,500
Both of the jeeps are 6cylinders, manual. So whats your guys thoughts on which one to go with? Thanks alot

Welcome: Based info: the 1992. as it fuel injection vs the 4.2 carb motor in the 1990 However I would pass on that one as well. Why was the timing chain replaced? Those usually are fine until the jeep is a rusted hunk of metal. How does the price compare to others in your area.. I know for me that sounds high.

Also to run 35's off road you will need to think about upgraded to the axles. Ford 8.8 rear swap is a good idea. Might want to consider upgrading the front shaft to aftermarker with biggger u-joints.

Both of those prices are the lowest that i can find around me that arnt scams, the seller of the 1990 said he'd sell it for 4,000 now. And for the 1995 sahara im not sure to why the timing chain was replaced

If those are it, then the 1995 would be my pick once I found out why the timing chain was replaced. What part of PA are you in?

Welcome To The Forum

Are these through a dealer or private sellers? I'm cynical, but here's my concerns. On the first one: It seems that the PO went through a lot of time and money very recently to build, fix and possibly mask problems. Why did he dump so much into it and then turn around and sell it within 200 miles of the last work? Is there another issue? What difs gears does it have?

The second one: again, more details needed.

Have you driven either of them? What is your intentions for the Jeep, daily driver, weekend warrior or rock crawler?

I always suggest that when buying a used Wrangler, you buy as close to stock as possible. You mentioned that you were prepared to install a lift and bigger tires, so start with stock and build it the way you want it. When you buy pre-modified you never know exactly what you are getting and if the mods were done properly. So unless you know the seller and they can explain to you what you have I'd go with stock.
