Hit and run!!!!!

I was leaving the Alan Jackson Concert in Everett, Washington. A black Mercedes was behind me riding my a$$ so i didnt care, once a lane opened he passed me and went in front of me and was going 10 mph in a 35 mph zone I just let him do that because i figured he was drunk. Two lanes opened up to enter the highway i was in the right lane he was in the left lane, i went to pass him going about 35-40 MPH and he swerved into my lane and hit my rear drivers side wheel and tire, which put me sideways on the road. While stopped he began to cuss me out and kept telling me nothing happened it was just my tire that he hit. I didnt move and seconds later he was pedal to the metal and gone. cops showed up about 45 seconds after he left. and a police report was filed. i got his license plate number and hopefully a good visual of his face. What are the chances that my rear axle is bent or what other problems will i encounter from this accident. I am running 35'' BFG's on 15x10 Eagle alloys and a Dana 35 with Yukon axle shafts, 4.88's, and a Detroit locker.
Thanks in advance for any tips or things to look for.

Running from the scene of an accident will make him think twice next time. Look for oil leaks and any kind of shimmy at higher speeds although I think you should be fine.

I have pics at home I will upload them later. They aren't too bad but I was just worried about the axle since the wheel took a pretty good hit. No body damage which is good.

I would think that if they find the guy and is car has damage and the cops see your story matches up that his insurance company would have to pay for any of your damage and any bills you have to have it checked out professionally. May get your tire replaced, check with the cops.

Good luck. Do you have uninsured motorist on your policy? Your insurance company will pay to fix yours then sue him.

Stay on the cops to track him down and to do a good investigation. If they don't find him and you do have uninsured motorist insurance this will still go against your "credit" with the insurance company and could cause your rates to go up. Even though it wasn't your fault. You need to make sure his insurance company pays and not yours. You insurance company basis your rates on how much money they spend on you, no matter what the circumstances are.

I was rear ended by a lady in a BMW, she gave the cops her insurance card, when I called her insurance company a couple of days later ( accident happened on a Sat.) they said they cancelled her for non-payment 2 months back. I called my insurance company (state farm) and they took care of it. Gave me a check to pay THEIR deductible, fixed my truck and even refunded me my deductible of $500 that they paid for me after they sued her, my insurance never went up. I've been a customer for 15 years and would never change.

Just joking.

Probably no damage. My experience with Jeep are that they are built like tanks and with the right amount of armor in the right places nothing will happen to your vehicle. Think about buying a good pintel for your hitch, a 1/4" plate rear bumper and a ARB front bumper. For the sides I would go with White Knuckle rocker guards. Once all that is installed you will notice people maintaining their distance from you.

I got hit by a hit and run several years ago and I got their plate number. The useless police never bothered to contact me. A month later I went to police headquarters where they keep all the police reports. I requested a copy of the report. It was there where I found all the information I needed to locate this idiot and his insurance company. The insurance company was never notified of the accident. Luckily for me I had witnesses. I filed a claim and was paid within a month. The hit and run driver had Statefarm. Morale of the story don't wait for the police to call you. You will have to do all the leg work yourself. Just give the police enough time to get all their information in.

Ok so i had an appointment today with the insurance company to see the damages and they are going to balance my wheel and if its bent they will replace it. But as for the axle they want me to get it inspected and if there is no damage to it they want me to pay them $500 which is my deductable. WTF............. this really sucks, the dumb a** that hit me isnt even paying for S***.

You don't have to pay your entire deductible unless the repairs are more than $500... If the cost for repairs is less, just tell ins. you changed your mind and aren't going to claim it, pay for it out of your pocket, and be done.... Sucks, yes, but stuff happens.

That's exactly what I thought and discussed with him but he told me different. I guess I will just cancel the claim thanks.

Sounds like your insurance agent is trying to pull a fast one on you anyway... maybe time to check out other providers?
