We were talking the other day and she reminded me how I am the only person she knows that will travel great distances for things she considers not worth it.
Heres my short list, not all jeep related by it shows my passion for what I drive.
Drive St louis to DC for a 1968 Pontiac 400 short block, nice trip, got to sightsee over the weekend. 860 miles, one night hotel room, lots of pictures and dont recommend Friday before Easter weekend at 330 trying to leave downtown, I'd shoot myself if I dealt with that traffic daily!
Fly St louis to Baltimore to buy a car and drive back. 841 miles, CHEAP, and I mean CHEAP motel (wife stayed home for this one)
Drive St Louis to Chicago for my current Jeep, 600 mi round trip in one day.
What crazy trips have you taken? I tell my wife it adds spice and fun to our relationship, she says it will help her case in court...lol
I'll travel anywhere for a good deal, a nice part, or something i really want...
The farthest i've gone for something though was only from Bettendorf, IA to Savage, MN to buy my motorcycle. It was only about 12 hours round trip though.
Rented a truck, got to savage, bought the bike, test rode the bike, put it in the truck, then drove back to bettendorf...
I drove 170 miles to buy my Jeep. Now that I have it, I don't mind the thought of driving a good distance to get something since I'll enjoy the trip now.
The furthest I've actually driven for a Jeep part was from Conway, AR to Southhaven, MS which is 344 miles round trip. I was willing to drive to Kansas City for something but it sold before I could get there.
Not made any crazy trips like that. If I found a deal on an 8.8 and the gas+cost of the axle was cheaper than east coast gear supply to my door I'd drive anywhere!
i drove 300 miles to pick up my HP30 that i got from a guy who regeared it to match my d44.. only paid for the parts needed to regear it, and 100 bucks for the axle and for him to install the gears..
on my behalf i stopped by cedar point on the way back home with my ex..
shoulda gotten the 33x10.5 BFG ATs that he offered me for 100 bucks on stock rims that were about 85% tread.. :/ big mistake
I drove from No. Virginia to Hampton, Va. That's a one way trip of 195 miles. That's 390 miles just to look at the Jeep, and I did not buy that one. And I drove in this!

I drove from Kentucky to Kansas (14 hrs each way) for a buick transmission and engine that neither worked.
But finding a 3 speed manual tranny for a buick in 1957 is quite rare. Only came in plain 2-door cars from what I can find.
I make trips in the 200 round trip range all the time for parts, axles, tires, running parts from one guy to another.
Though longest was flew out to cali to help a buddy drive back an mint 1987 toyota MR2. right around 3000 miles San Fran to Bristol Ct in a two sear door stop. great trip though
I bought my bike (2007 Kawasaki 900 Custom, brand new) from a dealer in Milwaukee, WI, about 400 miles away. The trip home was no problem, but the trip there, let's just say was "uncomfortable". I took an overnight Greyhound that stopped in Minneapolis and went to Milwaukee. After that it traveled to Chicago.
Let's just say, I don't like buses!! Or at least that bus route!!!
