Mine fell into my lap, My catalytic converters went on my Lincoln LS and my grandmother said i should buy her TJ. i told her i couldnt give her KBB and she countered with 1/5 of KBB and then it was mine.
I drove to look at one used one, got there saw it in person and left without driving it.
I was fooling myself thinking I would be satisfied with a used vehicle, I'm too picky.
Picky or not, I didn't want a loan & monthly payments.
Next morning, I got online and found a base 2010 Unlimited still on a dealers lot (it was the end of Dec.) I emailed pics of my truck I wanted to trade to the salesman and got a out the door trade arranged before I ever went there. I looked it over, it was as described, my first drive in it was home.

Oil changes at 6,000 miles? No way! My goal is for the motor to last as long as possible, not the oil.
I wasnt exactly looking for my jeep when I got it. I was in high school, and knew I wanted a jeep. I looked around at jeep I saw on lots, but was never serious about it. I ended up stopping by one lot, looked at the jeep and thought...oh that would be cool. Well ended up going up there the next day buying it, not at all what I was expecting, but wouldnt change a thing.

Woke up one day a couple of years ago and decided I was going to finally get one. Told my childhood friend (of 35+ years) that is a salesman at the local Dodge dealer to help me look for one. One week later he calls me with a really sweet deal on an 05 Rubicon. It had only been off the pavement once in the 50k miles and the top and doors had never been taken off. It is in my driveway now with 86K, no top or doors, and with a few mods.
...maybe you need to ask someone that CAN find their a$$ with both hands...?
I had been looking online for a few days. I talked my wife into it to get me out of a truck payment. Was driving home and saw a silver one with a hard top on the lot. It had 16,000 on it and that was about the blue book (trade in) on my truck. I still owed about 3 grand on the truck and I told the guy if he did it even swap and paid my truck off I would sign the papers right there on the spot. Real sweet deal on my end I thought.
15 yrs looked at many had a cj a while back
This one i looked for about 2 weeks called about a few they were gone within a day of listing. Called on this one went down to look at it in the dark on a freezing cold night. Bought it on the spot. It was what i wanted at the price i wanted to spend.

Looked around for jeeps but never saw on in my price range. My family was driving through a town we hardly ever go through and we saw it at a lower lot. Checked it out, talked to the dealer, and found out he was going to sell it an an auction that weekend because he couldnt sell it. Went back the next day, talked him down a bit, and I took her home. I couldn't be happier.

Decided in December when the repair estimates on my POS Saturn VUE were going to top $1400 that I wanted a Jeep. We were told the repairs could wait for a couple of months, so we decided to drive it for as long as we could and then start looking for a Jeep when summer started. Woke up March 27, just happened to be looking online at Jeeps and saw one I was interested in. Manual transmission, no power locks/windows, cruise control, air conditioning (hey sometimes you need it) bigger tires, soft top. Ambushed the hubby coming out of the shower and told him about it. He said if that's the one I want, then let's go look at it. Drove the POS Saturn VUE to Austin, saw the Jeep, drove it, and the decision was made. It was also a plus that they gave me way more for my Saturn than I thought it was worth. (Hell, one of the tailgate struts was broken as well as one of the tail lights--the tail light was super glued back together and a piece was missing & in order to use the tailgate I had to use my "loading stick" aka a 2x4). I'd say I got the better part of the deal there.
Oh, back to how long I looked: considering I wasn't going to start looking until summer I'd say I wasn't looking, it just kinda happened.

I was never looking for a jeep, it spent three months looking for me. My dad bought an extra one because it was too good a deal to turn down. After about three months he finally talked me into taking it.
I've wanted one when I was for in 1998 when my dad got one looked everywhere when I turned 15 , but found a great deal on a diesel f250 for 4000$ and bought it . But after I finished building it sold it when my mechanic offered me his 06 with 27790 miles on it doors off and top never off never offroad . For 9000$

ROCKIN IT & ROLLIN IT SINCE 1991
I actually was looking for my first vehicle at the time. My dad had it, and kept telling me over and over "No!" when I asked him about it. So I looked at a ton of cars, and was very close to buying one. After a YEAR AND A HALF, he caved. He didn't even give me a deal on it lol
Well, I was looking for an older YJ for about a year or so as a toy. My wife and I started looking for a house and I stopped looking for the Jeep. My wife fell in love with the house that wouldn't work for my Dodge Ram truck because my truck was about six feet longer than the garage is deep and the HOA rules don't allow street parking. The day after we closed on the house I went online looking for a replacement vehicle. I found a JK I with everything I need in Arizona. Paid to have it transferred to Los Angeles and drove it home. I still miss my truck, but the Jeep has definitely won a solid place in my heart. In the end it has all worked out beautifully. My Jeep payments are $250/mo less than the Dodge.
On second thought, I guess if you factor in all of the "stuff" I have been doing to the Jeep, it's an even wash.
3 months. Didn't even know I wanted a Jeep, but my truck was having issues And I needed to find a replacement. Started pricing Dodge Rams and realized they have really jumped up in price since I had my last 2. Started looking for an alternative. On a whim, I started looking at JKs.
Must have looked at 100-150 online, but was getting frustrated with the websites. Finally sent an email to 7 Internet salesmen outlining my requirements and what did they have "on the lot"? Got replies from 3 dealers. One had none, but would look. Thanks, but no thanks. Second was from a dealer I refuse to deal with, even if I blow my engine right in front of his stealership. He treated my wife bad 15 years ago and I won't deal with him. The third had 4 that fit my requirements. I drove an hour and a half to Orlando on a Friday afternoon. As soon as I saw the Mango, I didn't even bother looking at the other 3. She was screaming "Me!!! Pick me!!!". And I did. Less than an hour later, she was mine and I haven't looked back.
My only regret? I should have done this 15 years ago.
Looked at used ones for months. Went to buy a 2010 model (unsold "new" at dealer) they wouldnt finance me cause NO credit history. Was wending my way home when I saw this bone stock Yellow TJ Sport at a buy-here pay-here place. Long story short, I now have a yellow TJ Sport in my driveway!
Random Guy: "Is there anywhere that thing cant go?"
Me: "Yea, past a gas station..."
Woke up one morning and decided I wanted one went to every lot in town before 10 am found our 95 in 2005 with 48000 miles on the clock back then it was pristine, mod, and rust free. Called the bank signed the paper work drove it home gave it to wife at her birthday party that evening. She was so happy and excited that when she got in to go for a drive she almost ran me over cause she didn't notice it was a stick.
It wasn't planned. My wife and I were just driving around one day and pulled into a lot just for gits and shiggles. They ran a credit check and what do ya know? It was good so I ran out into the lot and hopped into the first one I saw.

Decided I needed a new vehicle on a Wednesday, 10 days later I placed an order for a brand new '11 Rubicon. I'd done searches off and on in the past and never find one that jumped out at me, so I figured it was better to build and order exactly what I wanted. It even came in 4 weeks ahead of schedule. The dealer was even shocked when it showed up so early.
The Bad Mango: '11 Unlimited Rubicon 6-spd
I've wanted a Jeep since at least high school so that has festered for 15+ years. I kind of went towards sports cars for a while but have found my way back to Jeeps.
I test drove a new on the lot 2010 about 3 months ago and kept hearing whispers about the new engine possibly coming soon so I thought I'd wait it out. After reading about Wranglers for the last 6 months, I finally ordered my new 2012 last week. I figured I will be keeping it for a LONG time so I might as well get exactly what I want. It will be my first manual too, btw.
