Notice that no Marines have replied yet. I'd guess many of them won't reply, because they will not respond to the title "soldier" because they AREN'T soldiers! (My son is a Marine, I know).

Hooah!

Hasn't stopped the seamen (hahaha) or the airmen or the Coastie from chiming in...

Technically, the word "soldiers" is an Army term, but it generally means members of the military, collectively. We Army members are happy to share the term. But don't EVER call me a marine...

I'm sure you're right, but my Marine son identifies with the term "troop", but "soldier" is a big no-no in his book. Marines even get irate when you don't capitalize "Marine". They are a proud bunch, and very particular about protocol. I've spent a bunch of time with a group of Marine scout/sniper friends of my son's; great guys.

US Air Force, 4 years active duty, then 20 more active reserves. Call us "flyboys" if you will, but we are all Brothers in Arms, no matter what branch we serve in. I'm proud of my service, and ALL those who have and will take up arms in the defense of our country.
